I have no problem w/the density height here, but I have a huge problem with how ugly that is........

This would replace the building on the left hand side of the image above.

I took the Streetview shot w/this angle to note that unfortunate building erected to the right which this proposal would perversely fit in with.........

I don't get the failure to see the character template right in plain view w/the existing buildings. (no I am not suggesting facade retention.)

I'm just saying, brick, small, divided store fronts, interesting windows, 3-4s street wall plus a setback.

What's so hard about that?
 
Public meeting is March 22. I predict some hapless participant will voice concerns about the quality of architecture and street level design (as above) and that the developer, planner and councillor will respond with half-condescending, half-indignant nods and say that they "will take it into consideration" implying that such concerns are "quaint" and that a building design that looks like CAD software was given to a preschooler on meth is somehow the pinnacle of modern urban design. This poor area is getting quite a collection of duds with West Beach, the prefabs, the Poet and that weird Soviet shack on Connaught.
