Interesting project for sure - curious to see how this modern design blends with the neighbouring retail.
Hopefully this initiates more development and better retail in the area!
 
Was quite curious how they'd add or manage parking here, considering the limited space. Looked at the docs...it's very ambitious and ingenious. A mechanical parking system for such a small development seems new for the city. They even included a brochure of this elevator railed automat contraption in the docs.

They are around. The most extensive system is the one going in at Massey Tower. 990 Bloor West also has one, as does a few existing buildings around the city.

I guess 990 Bloor W is pretty small for a project getting such a parking system, but this one is tiny compared to it. I'm curious what the existing buildings are that have automated parking, unless it's a security-related and the public isn't supposed to know. The whole concept seems pretty amazing. I recall an article about TO trying this for a public parking garage decades ago (it was shortlived). A machine stacking your car for you actually seems kinda intimidating for anyone not used to it. Are there gears and rails moving around you, what if you get trapped in there?
 
There is a similar one at Oben Flats (1075 Queen E) that has been operating successfully in a rental building for a year now. There are a few in Ottawa as well. These are all semi-automated, in that the users still park their cars conventionally into each space. 900 Bloor West included. Massey is a fully-automatic parking system, which is much more costly and risky.

No moving parts while users are in the system. There are motion detectors and interlocks throughout, with the TSSA governing the safety. The parking process is exactly the same as parking in a normal spot...
