October, 2017
In September, Solotex Corporation and their broker Milborne Real Estate conducted a soft launch of Vic Towns in North York. Brokers were invited to the newly completed on-site sales office. The initial release includes only the larger units. Key interior amenities include smooth finish ceilings, stone countertops, and six appliances. For a limited time, the project is offering free parking, capped development charges, and a requirement of only 10% down. The tentative occupancy date is spring 2020.
 
Without any retail?
There two more strip plazas and a super centre within 10 min walking distance. Existing retail inventory seems very low yield. Don’t think we are missing much with a full bedroom development.
 
I'll add to the concerns express here.

I live a fair bit to the south of here, but pass by w/some regularity.

The subtraction of walkable retail is regrettable.

To be clear, this plaza was un-redeemable in its recent form.

But the failure to include retail in the redevelopment is profoundly unfortunate.

An observation made above noted major retail 10min walking distance away.

I would suggest that's barely walkable to many; much as it may be within my comfort zone.

But it would be hugely unpleasant in adverse weather, rainy, windy, too hot/cold/humid even.

It's worth adding this street is not everyone's favourite walk to start.

Given proper densification, a major retail component between here and Surrey would be a substantial value-add to the area.

The failure to consider that is at best an oversight and at worst, negligent.

I took a peek at the status of permits for this development and wondering if others here with more experience looking at this stuff would know what this might hint about the progress.

I'll break them into three categories, based on the 'Status' as of today:

1) Permit Issued
- Demolition Folder (DM)
- Building Additions/Alterations (Excavation and Shoring)

2) Under Review
- New Building (for each of Building A, B, C & D)
- Partial Permit - Foundation (in regards to the parking garage)

3) Not Started
- Drain and Site Service
- Mechanical (MS) (for each of Building A, B, C & D)
- Plumbing (PS) (for each of Building A, B, C & D)
