I’d like to see Scheer state that he’d legislate banning men from participating in female sports. It would send a signal that some of the extreme idiocy needs to stop if for no other reason than to demonstrate that western culture hasn’t lost its mind and that the fringe isn’t driving the bus. No one privately supports men mocking female sport. So why is it happening in a democracy?

So why is it happening in a democracy?

Because culture has taken on a strong shame-based element with real ramifications in the professional world, and people simply do not speak up because of a fear of being called transphobic, or some other pejorative. Meanwhile, the pendulum hasn't finished its swing yet, meaning that victimization and sexual minorities are still trendy in the societal narrative. Because our democracies do not have any other centralizing elements in the national narrative (religion is basically a non-participant), there isn't anything that acts as a counterweight.

I'm interested in the ramifications that come out of trans children, and if in the future, we might begin to see a whole bunch of lawsuits alleging Munchhausen by proxy and stuff like that.

I choose this example because it impacts few people directly, but offends everyone. Similar to the Broken Windows policy in crime prevention. The population gets uneasy when norms are flouted because it signals a type of lawlessness raising the question whether anyone is un charge. When govt fails to correct simple things it suggests they cannot deal with serious problems. More unease. If it continues to fester you get a Trump. Why would our PM be afraid to say men shouldn’t be steamrolling women in sport?

It's amazing that when Canadian overwhelmingly oppose increased immigration levels - the media are still able to rile up the minority and bully advertisers.

At least Mad Max has someone to blame when he loses...

Maxime Bernier is blaming a "totalitarian leftist mob" for the decision to take down billboards promoting his controversial stance on immigration.

The leader of the People's Party of Canada is complaining of censorship after the owner of the billboards, featuring Bernier's face and a slogan advocating against mass immigration, said he would remove the ads in response to an outpouring of criticism.

Bernier says his political opponents and the "leftist mob" want to stifle discussion of immigration and keep him out of the election debates.

Bernier has gotten 20 times the press coverage he had received prior to the billboard removal. Most people would have never heard about the billboards themselves if it weren't for them getting removed. Politics are incredibly dumb and easy sometimes.

As an immigrant myself I have no issue with Canadians pondering about immigration.

He's publicly said that backbench Tory MPs won't be able to touch the issue.

So, is Scheer telling his English and French candidates different things when it comes to the abortion debate? Candidates in heavily pro-choice Quebec have a much different story than ones in the more conservative parts of the country.

A whole slew of former Federal NDP candidates in NB along with a current party rep at the national level from NB.......have all decamped on mass to the Greens.

This makes total sense. The Greens now hold provincial seats in NB (3 of 39 seats) and PEI (8 of 27 seats), with growing popularity nation wide. I imagine those seven NDP seats in Nova Scotia and three in Newfoundland will be at risk soon.

The Greens stand for something, whilst the Dippers stand for nothing I can discern.

Soon? The Newfoundland election just happened. And the NDP actually *overachieved* in holding those three seats, given how far behind they were in nominating a full slate.

And as far as NS goes: if they're lost, it most likely won't be to the Greens.

An election is not the only way to lose seats. If the Greens Do well, the Newfoundland Dippers may simply declare they’re leaving the provincial party and sitting as Greens. The NS election is sooner, so they may wait.

But let’s see what happens next month. It may be interesting to see the near oblivion of a national party, akin to the British Liberal party.
