2019 Canadian Federal Election

The NDP clearly had the momentum to at least turn the PC lead into minority terriory, but it was halted largely by both the PC and Liberal machines fearmongering about Bob Rae. That old trick still works.
Yup, I talked to quite a few people who specifically mentioned Bob Rae. They let that boogeyman scare them into voting for someone even worse, who we're now stuck with.

By election results are en route.........but not yet fully in................

As it stands w/50% of the vote counted...........The Libs lead the Dippers in Outremont 41.4 to 26.5

Notable here at this point is the Greens polling at 14%

Well ahead of the BQ or the Tories.

***

In York-Simcoe

The Tories seem to have it in a runway at 51-31 over the Libs w/58% of the vote in.

NDP and Green are non-factors

***

Meanwhile in Burnaby

Jagmeet is leading w/40% to the Libs 27 and Tories 22

with 16% of the vote in

Notable here, no Green candidate and the People's Party is pulling 11% (Raises eyebrows)

York-Simcoe is no surprise, as that is a CPC/PC stronghold. Losing in Outremont is a blow for the NDP. I also see concern for the CPC in Burnaby. as they lost over 10% of their potential voters to the PPC

Losing in Outremont is a blow for the NDP.

Actually, they didn't do as horribly as many of us were led to expect from all the "NDP back to the fringes in Quebec" mewling--held on to a quarter of a vote and a solid second place. I think the less-than-landslide for the Libs was more surprising--the combined NDP and (overachieving) Green vote came close to outpolling them.

I suspect that prior to SNC-Lavalin, the Libs were headed for something like a 50%+ blowout--or at least, that's what a lot of pundits were prepared for...

Well, so much for worrying about the US having the more unpopular leader...

Trudeau now has a lower approval pproval rating than Trump, with Tories way ahead: Ipsos poll

The country is uniting against the Liberals one by one. In AB the Conservatives are in the high 60s, so those handful of Lib/NDP seats are likely gone. Leading in BC, 40% in Ontario, 25% in Quebec. Looking promising that NB flips back into the fold too. Not worried about the Prairies not remaining majorly blue.

Nice hair though!

Why would someone be excited about Scheer? He plays footsie with white supremacists and thinks he can be some right wing populist.

Agree with the first part. He is a quiet, humble and competent leader. Not exciting, just able.

For Liberal voters, arrogance, flamboyance, selfies, condescension, corruption and ineptness are viewed as assets. Anything that appeals to a teen aged mentality voter.

People vote against Leaders in this country than for For you.

If people are willing to support the Tories with Scheer, it shows Trudeau has a huge image problem

You don't think the above quote might come off as arrogant, condescending and inept? Just asking.........

Would this be the same man who got elected leader by tens of thousands of instant conservatives who just happen to be dairy farmers in Quebec?

Who then publicly made a snide reference to same while drinking milk at a public event?

Or....

Would this be the guy who was lobbied tirelessly by SNC-Lavalin and had nothing bad to say about them or what they were lobbying for until the Liberals found themselves (rightly) in hot water over this?

Or

Would this be the guy who in the wake of a tragic mass shooting in New Zealand so muddled a statement of sympathy and solidarity that it had to be re-issued later.

Or

Would this be the guy who can't seem to distance himself from Faith Goldy (white nationalist); and who seemed to accept an apocryphal story about Hillary Clinton's (false) linkage to a pedophile ring?

Just curious......

* none of the above should be construed an an endorsement of Trudeau......it isn't. Just the popping of a balloon full of hot air.

If those are the worst attributes of a potential Scheer administration you can think of, I'd say Canadians would be doing mighty fine well for themselves by electing him in. I'll take dull, meek and boring any day over the drama teacher.
