This is ugly. Why can't the developer built something beautiful like what Circa is building at 1657 Bathurst. Keep the character building and enhance it.

A bit disappointing to lose some of the deco-esque buildings.

I think they should use a different, lighter palette at least.

This development was appealed to the OMB due to Council's failure to respond in time. Planning recommends Council send staff to oppose the development: http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2017/te/bgrd/backgroundfile-106288.pdf

No hearings have been scheduled yet: https://www.omb.gov.on.ca/ecs/CaseDetail.aspx?n=PL170612
Thanks the update! Any idea what kind of timeline this has now that it is going to the OMB? From what I hear it will get an easy seal of approval at this point.

It's unlikely that there would be a pre-hearing until early 2018, or a hearing until mid if not late 2018. I expect the City would negotiate this one in advance of a hearing, looking for a ratification of a settlement (and therefore would only need a 1 day hearing). If there's no settlement in advance of a hearing, a decision can take many months to happen after a hearing.

Thank you for the info! Much appreciated. I had no idea it could go well into 2018.
