Kevric Holdings from Quebec is redeveloping the building for office and retail use. There were rumours that the Apple Store would move into this site.

Hoarding went up last week.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrossssssssssssssss! It would be far better to attach new facades that better fit into the brutalist/international style frame behind it. These look ridiculous. If Apple were going to go in here, their architect would simplify these and make them work. If these facades actually get built, Apple won't touch the place.

i agree, interchange.

the design, as it stands is silly. this building and area deserves a much more subtle and elegant touch.

i'm thinking those images are just for visual effects and not the actual proposed facades.

since this is 1 building, don't landlords typically go with one facade look for the overall streetwall, but the different stores can customize their own signage?

These are stock mockup images...if the right retailer(s) comes along this landlord will bend over backwards in order to accommodate their store design criteria, especially if the sole objective is to establish a flagship presence.

One would hope they will go with one (simpler) facade look for the overall streetwall... so then why not do so in the teaser renders? If there is really still a chance to land Apple for example, they should make try a simple glass box design extruding from the building's current facade, eg. inspired by Apple's Fifth Avenue location. With the teaser they have now, they'll attract less design-conscious brands.

from their web site...

"The building is able to accommodate individually designed retail facades to meet the marketing and branding needs of the flagship store."

Lets hope Apple moves in!!
