Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Fair enough, but if you give residents and businesses the power to make infrastructure decisions then nothing will ever get built. See the decades from 1990 to 2010 for reference.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

It’s not only much cheaper, but also much faster to build. More disruptive sure, but for a lot less time and money. You decide if the trade off is good or not.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Thanks for the insight. The Toronto solution barriers are great, both aesthetically and functionally. So why aren’t they on Bloor yet? It’s been like this for years.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

the bike lanes could be a lot more aesthetically pleasing in Toronto in my opinion. would be nice if they didn't just throw up these really ugly reflectors and actually cared about how it makes the street look, not just function. this looks horrible. the ones along Adelaide / Richmond are...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Nice map! Overall great work. I agree with the route's you've picked for the most part, but what's your vision here? To quad track every line? Can you explain your map in a little bit more detail? I especially love that you assigned letters or a different naming scheme to the LRT lines. I...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

what would be the point of the Consumers Station? The 2km between Don Mills & Vic Park seems fine to me for Line 4.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

they all need the Sydney Metro treatment in my opinion. all of them.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

should go without saying, but they should/could/will have to scale all the GO lines as much as possible. I'm talking EMU's that carry 1000 pphpd with 3 minute frequencies or less. Lakeshore west in particular has four tracks and therefore can scale the easiest. it's more complicated east of...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

great pics. makes me envy the cities that just torn theirs down.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Three pages discussing pedestrian deaths? Wtf does this have to do with the Gardiner? Just in case someone decides to go for a brisk walk on an elevated highway? Start a new thread if you want to discuss something completely off topic.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

unfortunately that's probably accurate. would've just torn it down between Strachan and the DVP if it were up to me. the thing is an eyesore / money pit and does nothing to improve traffic flow because of its flawed design.

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

I remember. Maybe it's time to revive this plan.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

no to be clear, the design team wasn't creative enough in selling the idea of a transit mall. it's your job as a designer to not just present your client with options, but to convince them why the best option is the only real one to consider. in that you failed and that's fine. anyone can...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

couldn't the lost capacity from the Gardiner be made up with more lanes along Lakeshore? wouldn't traffic flow more efficiently as a result? have you tried to merge onto the Gardiner between Jarvis and Dufferin lately? the Gardiner's on ramps take up tons of space. how many lanes of traffic...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Then why not just say that to begin with. We’re on the same page. I really didn’t mean to insult you or anyone else. I get there are other factors at play here, political and otherwise.

what a disaster / money pit this monstrosity is. should have torn it down when they had the chance.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Nah. It’s a disaster. I’ve put way too many hours of thought into it for over a decade. Half assed execution gets half assed results. If they went full transit mall that would have been great. Had they gone with the ROW option instead that would’ve been better. It’s not well thought out or...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

King Street current design is what happens when non creative people think they're creative. Just ban on street parking on every 500 route. Put every the streetcar in a ROW. Have the platforms/stop clear enough so that commuters are safe from vehicle traffic. ban left turns and be done with it...
