    Metrolinx: Bloor-Lansdowne GO Station

Didnt realize it was that bad. Yikes.

    Toronto The Yards | 133.5m | 40s | TAS | Giannone Petricone

Kudos to the city for incentivizing purpose built rental and affordable rentals. Hopefully we start to see a wave PBR construction approaching 60s-70s levels and start to chip away at the rental unit shortage in the city.

    Toronto King-Liberty GO Station | 21.39m | 3s | Metrolinx | WSP

I think theyre calculating the Province sees King-Liberty as so essential to their expansion plans that they would fund it themselves. Otherwise the city prioritizing St Clair/Old Weston would make no sense considering the low ridership being projected there.

    Toronto King-Liberty GO Station | 21.39m | 3s | Metrolinx | WSP

John Tory being attached to these stations is poisoning their approval. We gotta get Tommy Lee Jones to give Toronto Council the Men In Black treatment and erase Smartrack from their minds. Convince them they're regular GO stations or something.

    Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Has the VIA HFR announcement been delayed? Project schedule indicated they would select the bid winner in "Fall 2024" and the reporting in October was indicating they would announce a decision within weeks. Hopefully the political gridlock in Ottawa isn't affecting this project.

The City of Toronto's new Chief Planner is..... Jason Thorne

Regarding the point about raising incomes, I recently saw this intriguing graphic regarding home affordability across U.S. and Canadian cities measured by Price-to-Income ratio. Was pretty surprised how low Toronto household incomes were relative to all the American cities. Would never have...

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

That's still to be determined. Let's wait for the scope of GO Expansion to be finalized and contracts signed before we start singing praises. The reversal on the Scarborough Junction improvements doesn't inspire a lot confidence regarding the final form of GO expansion and that the required...

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Alberta's plans for intercity passenger rail are pretty impressive. I'm pleasently surprised that government sees fast and frequent rail as key to accomadating their rapid growth. I was expecting them to go all-in highway expansion. Hopefully this is the start of provinces having grown up...

    Transit Ridership Statistics & Tracking

    Regional rail I would think.

    Transit Ridership Statistics & Tracking

If GO eventually fully integrates fares with the TTC they could explode their ridership and overtake LIRR. Toronto riders being able to ride GO trains with TTC fares within city limits would transform GO and really change how people are able to get around.

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

Always wondered why this wasn't already a thing with these countries sharing a head of state and being commonwealth countries. The UK essentially treats travelers from Canada and U.S. the same. Makes you wonder as a Canadian what the point of being part of the commonwealth is nowadays.

    Toronto 2451-2495 Danforth Avenue | 122.08m | 35s | First Capital | Superkül

Good looking design, hopefully it retains this through the approval process. Also hope they find a way to incorporate micro-retail as part of the development.

    Zoning Reform Ideas

Seems planning staff are still somewhat resistant to the increase in density: Whatever happened to the proposed Major Transit Station Areas plan the province was pursuing to implement? Chow should work with city council to implement similar reforms BC approved last year for densifying areas...

Anything north of Bloor might as well be in Alaska to some folks.

    Quebec-Windsor Corridor

The federal government is the one making the choice of which consortium to go with and they probably think they'll be governing forever so.....🤷‍♂️

    Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Whichever train model they choose for this project will likely be manufactured in the States. HSR rolling stock options for North America seem down to Siemens and Alstom, both of which have a significant manufacturing presence down south.

    Quebec-Windsor Corridor

Related to Air Canada's involvement in one of the bids for VIA HxR: https://www.travelweek.ca/news/air-canada-expands-intermodal-travel-connections-across-europe-and-asia/ European airlines have been utilizing this air-rail strategy for some time and Air Canada's recent rail embrace seems...

    Toronto The Notable | 171.6m | 50s | Graywood | Turner Fleischer

Glad to see developers adjusting and including more livable family-friendly units. Hopefully we see more of this in future proposals across the city.

    Quebec-Windsor Corridor

I'm glad previous generations were ambitious and forward-thinking enough to build things like the St. Lawrence Seaway that contribute a good chunk to our GDP. We could never build something like that nowadays.

    VIA Rail

How practical would it be for regional/commuter rail to also operate on potential HxR tracks? VIA HFR execs have been playing up the potential of cities like Peterborough and Trois-Rivieres to be part of the commuter shed of Toronto and Montreal respectively. However the likely cost of HxR...
