    Woodbine Centre

No, it has not been Mark's work wear house for YEARS. In fact, they dropped the work wear house part of the name before CT even bought them. I'm just saying, because a floor of the Bay is so big, they can fill some of it with a work wear section larger than what most stores offer currently...

    Woodbine Centre

I think CT is still busy testing larger Marks stores first before trying to fill any Bay space as an oversized Marks store. I don't blame them if their current thinking is "Let's see how the new larger Marks @ Dufferin mall does first before making any further decisions..." Otherwise, yeah, a...

    Woodbine Centre

You'd think they'd do that. The kids ride section is already there, and a movie theatre ...I don't see why they can't also add some Picketball and a fitness club...unless the owner is holding out for a Canadian Tire or someone to fill the former Bay as a department style store of some sort??

North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

I have not been to Centrepoint mall in a while. Another example is when one thinks of RCSS stores, they dedicate a section of the store to Joe Fresh clothing as a one stop shop format. Does the No Frills @ Centrepoint mall do that? Maybe Centrepoint mall IS the example of what to expect for a...

North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

If a No Frills might be too big, what's to stop them from throwing in a Joe Fresh store to fill some of that space? (Merely a brainstorm thought of what Loblaws owns that could fill some space)

Downtown Grocery Store List (current + proposed)

Interesting that they would rather tackle the Basics across the street head on rather than try to tackle the Longos as a CityMarket store.

Another fire right next door to the factory in the abandoned house...hmmm somebody wants those abandoned houses next to the factory GONE!!

Downtown Grocery Store List (current + proposed)

Supposed to, yes. Will open? That is another question. The Bestco flag is still hung up just outside, so hopefully the plan is still going ahead...(?)

    All-You-Can-Eat Sushi

It's getting tough to find a low priced AYCE sushi place these days. Some places leave sashimi out, quietly requesting an extra fee for the Sashimi (if desired) while others simply force a service fee around 13% (or so) added to the AYCE price. Then there's the places that say that if you buy...

Downtown Grocery Store List (current + proposed)

They have the right to renovate where necessary. (as a closed business) A further health inspection will decide their fate (for a possible future opening-green or yellow sign...)

It looks like one great big oversized main floor lobby. I thought they would at least want to offer the coffee shop to go back in on the main floor once the condo (or rental building) is built.

    Yorkdale Shopping Centre

No. That will never happen. (@ Yorkdale) I already spoke with some employees over there that explained that the Bay area is a different class of people than what they are and where they are located in the mall. One person joked that they don't care what goes in the former Bay space as long as...

Downtown Grocery Store List (current + proposed)

Yes, the LRT line, (not subway) which "appears to be" a combination of Subway and street car, does drop off just outside Adonis in Scarborough. That's always a good thing. Drops just outside Eglinton Square for Metro and the No Frills across the street also.

    Woodbine Centre

Sounds like the best way to go about tearing down the mall is to get CF to buy the land and convert the place into an outdoor mall with condos (or rentals) simulating Shops at Don Mills. I still say the mall still has some life in it as is though...depending on what can replace the Bay store...

I'd like to know what businesses are going in at street level. The rent must be crazy high for being a fresh new building...

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

You're not missing much. The food @ ESM is so awful I wonder how they stay in business. Olive Garden is much better any day.

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

I think it would be smart of them to retire East Side Marios and convert them all to Olive Garden restaurants. Unless there is some major difference, why compete with yourself? I prefer Olive Garden over ESM any day myself...

I LOVE Olive Garden. I just wish they were also opening up in Toronto downtown or mid town. Or even Scarborough some place...

    Hudson's Bay Company

It's actually sad seeing all the toys r us stores close. Over 30 million dollars owed to landlords. Hopefully his remaining businesses (ie Northern reflections, FYE etc) are doing okay. One thing we know for sure, Doug Putman won't be the one to turn to to fill any of the Bay leases any time...
