Cherry St bascule bridge has been lowered back down and allowing traffic to pass as of early this morning. EDIT: It will be open to traffic until Monday at noon.

I wonder if this will eventually be the base for the Snowy Owl play structure and stage.

I can't think of anyone else with such a recognizable style. Their "logjam" aesthetic shows up with the other play structures too. It's gotta be them. It isn't mentioned in WT's press release either, so maybe they are coordinating an announcement when the project is closer to completion.

Speaking of which, any bets on when the transit bridge will get its first mow?

The peninsula extending south under the Commissioners St bridge will eventually support the footings of the second bridge, dedicated to transit (like with North Cherry St). It will remain above the water level, and I imagine it will be accessible to recreational paddlers?

Definitely after! I imagine that's all due to the heavy construction traffic between Saulter and the new Don Roadway. The goal isn't to have pristine pavement, but to remove rocks and large clods of dirt, broken bits of metal, branches, and so on. Same thing happened on Villiers, but it was even...

The spinny brush thing at that back does pick up a lot of debris. Of course, it won't be 100%, so what you see left on the road is a lot better than what it would have looked without sweeping. I imagine without it, we would have much larger chunks of dirt, not to mention pebbles and rocks and...

I'm not aware of any plans to twin the South Cherry St bridge, and the second Commissioners St bridge is "years away". Heck, it might take years before the first streetcar runs down the existing North Cherry St transit bridge. Incidentally, that's also the reason why there isn't a south sidewalk...

Ask, and you shall receive. Commissioners was being sprayed and swept around 9 am and 12 noon today.

Caught up with the ladies from Waterfront Toronto as they were shooting a new video on Commissioners. Looking forward to hearing Netami tell us what marshmallows (?!) have to do with the filling of the Don River. :D

Not the best example because they're so far away, but that's a full-sized adult human standing on the armour stones.

They had daily sweepers and sprayers on Villiers when it was still open. I wonder what they're looking for work now...
