    Transit Fantasy Maps

I'm not sure why or when this came to me, but I felt compelled to make it. This is one option for a future downtown line that also relieves one of the most crowded bus routes in post-Covid Toronto. Starting from Sheridan Mall on Wilson, this line follows Jane southbound, taking over the stop...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I don't believe the EELRT route being a single separate service is the right thing anyways. It just does not make sense as a standalone route, and should really be the priority sections of a Scarborough rapid bus network instead of an un-extendable elevated line that serves only one major trip...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Yes, but can we just go back to this being the GO Electrification thread and not the Battery Trains Anywhere thread?

oh please don't name all the local streets after Benny and his heiresses

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

Assuming the 427 continues as a straight shot north-northwest from its current terminus, like it is shown in the graphic on the previous page, curving west towards Wasaga Beach would rip right through the Minesing Wetlands Conservation Area, unless you were extra careful to thread the needle...

    Toronto 522 University Avenue | 232.35m | 64s | IA Financial Group | WZMH

Makes sense. I got a little muddled between the different iterations from the proposed teardown to the UHN retrofit.

    Toronto 522 University Avenue | 232.35m | 64s | IA Financial Group | WZMH

Am I tripping, or does that massing look like they're retaining the existing building and putting a tower on top?

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Absolutely not. If not at Union as it is now, then at a station connecting to the PATH network where Union can be reached easily. I don't think Summerhill is a good idea either, the last thing we want is CPKC having any kind of leverage over ALTO.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Knowing Air Canada is involved in the delivery consortium, I would not be surprised if the solution is to make Union a through station and terminate trains at Pearson or Woodbine in the interim. That way you can have a station in the core, and two shoulder stations on either side of downtown at...

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

Oh, yes, I believe I know what you're referring to now. I looked up "Bradford cemetery" and the first hit was for the multifaith proposal on 13th Line, so I thought it was that one. The Ahmadiyya property on 10th Sideroad has been the subject of quite a bit of fearmongering over the years, and...

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

Don't put words in my mouth. You've been in this thread all day slagging the transportation and civic needs of a community as being "a waste of money" without any real evidence or argument. The condescension is palpable and unhelpful, and that "you don't know what's good for you" attitude is...

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

Of course it's not unanimous, but when that extra 4 km to reach County Road 27 has much less utility than the connector between the 400 and 404, the opinions of the community and local landowners hold a lot more weight in the decision making process. There is not enough of a benefit to be gained...

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

If the Downtown Relief Line was really so needed, Toronto could have built their own subway ages ago. But they didn't. Because it wasn't.

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

The locals don't want it extended to County Road 27. Bypassing Highway 400 would still be doable by using 10th Sideroad - northbound it parallels the freeway up to Barrie (just like 27), and southbound it now curves into 5th Line heading west to meet County Road 27. It would be a completely...

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

One thousand percent agreed. I was born and raised in Bradford, I'm intimately familiar with the area, and a new route that diverts traffic out of Bradford's core would both solve a major congestion issue and enable the town to more properly urbanize, densify, and become pedestrian- and...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The HOV lane on 400 northbound was a lifesaver when the Highway 9 bottleneck stretched all the way to King City during the PM peak. Although you could also argue that backup exists only because the 4+1 arrangement ends at Highway 9 and shrinks down to 3.

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

Thank goodness there aren't any highways in the Lake Simcoe watershed right now. No clue how they could handle something like the 400 crossing over its major rivers.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

But why would that happen? That just poses the question of where to bring the line from Exhibition to the UPX corridor, and removes the direct connection between the city's two largest transit hubs. I can only see it making sense if it branched north on Jane Street from Trethewey to Highway 407...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

I don't think it's the political leaning of Peterborough nearly as much as the lack of rail service and its regional significance. It will also add redundancy to the passenger network by creating an additional long distance corridor.

    Toronto 405 Sherbourne | 120.1m | 35s | TCHC | Alison Brooks

They're not. The floorplate is 795 sq m at the top of the shorter massing, and 409 sq m in the taller massing only above that elevation. Those are measurements taken at different points in the same tower, otherwise it would say 795 + 409.
