Does anyone know whether these vertical strips serve any purpose OR are they just decorative aesthetic?

To be honest...I actually prefer it like this than the rendering. I always thought that the rainbow window glass did not compliment the building itself.

Yes about 2 years. The towers are expected to be built by mid or the end of 2018!
