Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Thanks Paul I'll take a look. My immediate impression is that Vancouver is much more generous in its landscaping. But also that there's far more space allowance on the routes that you've linked to. Here are some pictures of the areas the proposed overpass will be moving through. If you have...

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Those renderings without the cantilevering are pretty consistent with Metrolinx own materials. Sadly if you look at the maintenance of the still unfinished UPX station at Bloor you might get the impression that the Options for Davenport rendering is a little bit nicer that what Metrolinx...

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

My understanding is that the new SkyTrain Evergreen line is in fact tunneling because of high residential density along the route. So I would say the Metrolinx proposal is indeed similar to the Gardiner and that local groups proposals --at least at first glance--are more consistent with...

"Monster Rail Bridge" comes from the Toronto Star. http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2015/12/08/monster-rail-bridge-affordable-housing-gardiner-refugees-on-toronto-council-agenda.html The Gardiner Expressway is the closest analogy to what Mextrolinx is proposing. It's also a useful example...

Here's an article on the trees in the Georgetown corridor. It's not exactly the most encouraging precedent: http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2012/12/16/airrail_link_has_metrolinx_clearcutting_trees_along_the_rails_say_residents.html

Here's the City Planner's rendering of two locations. Do you really want to argue that these look better? What rendering of the "Monster Bridge" doesn't look like instant urban decay?

Thanks for the photograph Paul. Gaging the scale of the proposal--over 4 stories high at it's apex-within the existing community is difficult. Although it's a panorama, so yes it's necessary to account for lens distortion, I'm still trying to figure out what the arc of the proposed overpass...

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I agree that the bridge over bridge construction doesn't make any sense. The opportunity to level Dupont will greatly increase mobility from inside and outside the triangle. It would be great for businesses and bicyclists alike. Unfortunately that "bridge over bridge" design is from Metrolinx...
