Has it been confirmed that there will be a Wal Mart in that plaza? I've been looking around and can't really find much info on it. Looks like the development for 36 Overlea is also still being discussed among local residents and the city.

I was going down Overlea Blvd yesterday and noticed a development proposal sign outside of 36 Overlea blvd (which is currently some kind of factory/warehouse at the moment). I stopped and walked back to have a look and saw that it was for a retail/commercial development of three, three storey...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Does anyone know when the Orion V's will be retired? I've been seeing them on route #88 a lot lately which was surprising as I thought they were mainly stationed at the Wilson garage.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Caught a glimpse of one of the new streetcars heading southbound on Bay between College and Dundas this afternoon around 4pm. Not sure where it was headed as it looked empty (though i could be wrong as it was a quick glance). Was just a little odd to see it on that particular street.

    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

I already get that negative vibe from Toronto news media in regards to this project. They're slipping in talk of congestion, and the whole 'we already have too many condos' train of thought. Why can't people just celebrate these projects instead of going in and digging around for all the...

I wonder how the folks who bought units on the west side of 1 Bloor East must be feeling right about now.

    Hudson's Bay Company

I've been by the menswear department on the 5th floor and it is quite dead up there these days. I talked to one of the employees working there and she also echoed the same sentiment. I guess most guys don't want to make the trek up to the 5th floor to buy clothing.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Didn't you hear, saying the "S" word is taboo now among the hip, online Toronto crowd now. Being in favour of a subway anywhere outside of a DRL means you're automatically a low intelligence, Rob Ford loving troglodyte in their eyes.

So far so good, but we've heard this talk of "tallest building in Canada" talk before only to see the building in the final plan have it's height reduced by a significant margin.

It's the Toronto way of developing major projects - even our plans take years and countless dollars to plan out.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Speaking of new buses I think I saw one a little south of Warden and Eglinton. It was out of service and by the look of the AC unit on top it looked a lot like one of the Nova buses.

There was talk last year of Wal Mart possibly being one of the tenants at the new Smart Centre big box stores being built on Wicksteed. I wonder now with Target leaving there will be a big vacancy at East York Town centre so could Wal Mart possibly move in there? Also, there doesn't seem to be...

    Toronto Auberge On The Park | 148.9m | 45s | Tridel | Graziani + Corazza

The location is beautiful with all the green surrounding it and I would imagine that the units will all be in hot demand. Also, with news of Wrigley closing their factory up Leslie, I'm guessing we'll see more developments in that area. I do agree though that with this rush to build as many...

Toronto Toronto City Hall and Nathan Phillips Square | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | Perkins&Will

Just imagine standing in the square and getting a clear view of Old City Hall. Would be a nice vista of one of the city's finest historic buildings. Instead we have the walkway blocking much of it off. Same with looking south from the square. Walking along Queen or Bay, the walkways don't...

    Leaside

Traffic on Bayview generally isn't bad aside from the stretch between Millwood and Eglinton because it's only one lane each way due to the parked cars on either side. I think complaining about traffic is a norm in these types of areas whenever a new project is going up.

I don't know how such relatively simple projects can go so over budget. Someone really needs to look at the books of these construction companies. I wasn't too excited about the details of the NPS revitalization project when they came out, but now it feels a lot worse. All they had to do was...

Thanks for the pic of the ski jump site. I had read about it briefly in the past but never looked up where the exact site was. Also, I wonder what is going on with the Coca Cola site since the construction site has been relatively quiet for a long time. I hope somehow Costco decides to pull...

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I wasn't exactly saying that the towers should all be identical, but rather the designs should work together in some manner instead of just being a hodge podge of random buildings.

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

My other problem aside from the close proximity of 6 buildings is that the designs of each building seem too different from each other. You have the main tower with it's nice lines, then you have the two buildings with the funky shape at the top, and the rest just your average modern Toronto...

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

I've never been comfortable with the 6 tower plan as it seems to be too much packed into a small area (not because of the population density, but just the way it looks). I'd be happier with not just getting rid of one, but rather two of the buildings and spreading the rest out over the space. I...
