Toronto the most miserable city in Canada: Study

What is the deal with Yahoo News anyway? It seems to highlight "news" stories which are very negitive towards progressive policies, people and cities. You will never see a positive Toronto, Obama or "climate change is real" story on there. Is it owned by the QMI agency or something? Also...

    How Toronto voted by ward

As GraphicMatt said. I was never for it, and that map is the proof we need. The pre-war city was developed differently that the post-war city. We have two different lifestyles and two different ways of viewing the city. Thats not to say that Im right and the suburbanites are wrong. Its just...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

The sky will not fall in the next 4 years. But nothing will get done either. Its time for everyone who cares about urban issues to get active. I read this site and the others every day, and am up on the issues. However its time to get active! Actually leave the house and make a difference...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Dont quote me on the numbers, because i was just casually watching the CTV news. Ford 43%, Smitherman 40%, Pants 15%. Ford's and Smithermans support is solid. 50% of Pants support is soft. 18% is undecided. I think Smitherman has this.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Bingo! Thre have been at least 2 to 4 Ford articles in the papers for the past few months now. Smitherman need to get his name out there, and form his own vision. Name reconition is what municipal politics is all about.

How come there is no media attention for GTA elections?

I remember in 1980/81, the only thing north of Burnhamthorpe was Square One. Meadowvale and Streetsville will were small communities, way up in the north west, sepparated by lots of farmland. When I played hockey in Meadowvale, my mom would make sure we had blankets, candles and food in the...

In the early to mid 1980's, two thirds on Mississauga was rural farmland. So dont feel so bad :)

How come there is no media attention for GTA elections?

I bet there are a lot of people in the 905 who wont be able to comprehend, that they cant vote for Rob Ford when they go to their polling stations. The ignorence of the political system is mind boggling to me sometimes.

    Time To Accelerate Freeway Teardowns?

People like to cite the Boston big dig as a financial disaster (which it was), however we should not compare the Gardiner to it. The big dig, went under railways, watterways, a new brige had to be built, on/off ramps going in every direction and the twisty spaghetti like routes they all took...

    Wealthiest Neighborhood?

darrent, settle down! Life is too short to resort to such hate speach over a discussion about census tracts.

    Crime rate continues to drop

I would support that. The Police budget is by far the biggest slice of the pie. If you want to bring the budget under control, the Police have to do their share too. However, the older you get, the more you fear the world outside your white picket fence, and the more you vote. So dont expect...

    Crime rate continues to drop

^^^ Yes, as Rob Ford says, you are either for the police, or against the police. Shades of grey have no place in a mature and constructive debate. ;) The truth of the matter has more to do with demographics than anything else. Crime is usually commited by young men between the ages of...

Rob Ford - Why the Supervillian?

Where have the votes been cast in the previous 4 elections? Have they been split between the core and the suburbs? My gut feeling is that the core votes in greater numbers, but i really dont know. If Etobicoke, Scarbourough and North York come out in droves, then Ford has a chance.
