    Toronto Post House Condominiums | ?m | 21s | Alterra | Wallman Architects

Another perspective of the lowest crane in Toronto. Anyone know when construction is going to be completed?

    Liberty Village

I guess without the smell of freshly baked bread wafting in from the west all that will remain is the fetid stench of slaughtered pigs from the east. What a shame.

    Movies that feature Toronto

That's the first thing that came to my mind. The Sam The Record Man sign shows up dozens of times in the final battle scene of The Incredible Hulk. No mater where the fight leads, it somehow magically keeps turning up in the background. A lot of it was shot at U of T as well. Toronto...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

From another angle: (It's a brewpub now run by Michael Duggan. Fantastic beer. Worth checking out.)

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

Sorry if this has already been posted: "Canada’s first offshoot of American Miami Subs Pizza and Grill closed after barely two months of offending passersby with one of Queen Street’s tackiest storefronts." From...

Beer Store needs a Lifetime Achievement Award

Easy now. If it's what's on the inside that counts, The City Beer Store in San Francisco has a beer selection that blows The Beer Store right out of the water. Three words: Pliny The Elder. I rest my case. But yeah, The Beer Store is ugly on the outside and inside, because they're...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

There's not much left by the time the picture in this link was taken, but it's no less interesting. http://www.bricoleurbanism.org/whimsicality/gardiners-no-innocent/

    androiduk's My Toronto

You'll like this then: And something for the Then And Now fans: Anyway, great thread. What kind of lens do you use to achieve that wonky effect?

    LCBO / The Beer Store

I voted no. But before I contribute to an old thread I should just say that I really only care about this as it applies to beer. And that I love craft beer. And the craft beer scene in Ontario is abysmal when compared to what is going on in the States and Quebec, and I think a lot of this...

    Very cool pictures/story btw!

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

*laugh* No! Please don't! Honest. That's all I got. For now. See, I had this idea a couple of weeks ago to take old pictures from the Toronto archives, find the location of where it was taken, and then take a picture of the same location as it stands now...and yeah. Let's just say I...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

This isn't the most exciting one ever and I could have done much better to match the angles, but here's 55 Strachan, the former John B Smith and Sons lumber company, looking north up Strachan.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Still loving this thread. From a different angle there's this picture posted by Geekaroo in this thread: http://www.urbantoronto.ca/showthread.php?t=9227 And here's the then pictures: I could do without the monster sign on top, but I think they did a nice job of the restoration on...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I think this is the very rare instance where whatever was in the Gardiner's path wasn't just demolished. I believe concessions were made to the Ex for the land appropriated for the Gardiner where they in-filled the lake to give them more land. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Best. Thread. Ever. I've spent about two hours looking at it and I'm only about half way through. Anyway, this is something I did just a week or two ago before I even knew this thread existed. These are of the old Loblaw Groceteria. At the very right of the before picture here...

Yonge Street Revitalization (Downtown Yonge BIA/City of Toronto)

It's really is a shame that they've been in disuse for so long. The pictures I just posted pictures are somewhere in the 1966 - 1972 range, according to the Archives. You can see the now old Loews sign to the right of the Heintzman building. I like that they still had highway 11 signs up...

    Liberty Village

That's interesting. The chapel is currently part of Liberty Village Park and seems a permanent fixture there, with interlocking brick going right up to it, and there's bike racks and a water fountain, and they recently removed the fencing around the park and attached metal grills to the doors...
