    Restaurant Comings & Goings

Wish I had taken a better photo, but these caught my eye as I passed by - they looked pretty nice in person:

    Toronto 150 Sterling | 51m | 14s | Marlin Spring | Giannone Petricone

If the MoCA is at 158 Sterling, then the address for this application (150 Sterling) puts it just south of the MoCA building -- but isn't one of the T3 buildings already going there?

    Toronto T3 Sterling Road | 52.52m | 11s | Hines | DLR

Is there any information on whether these buildings will cater towards one or two large companies (ie. 'flagship' tenants), or whether they're meant for a large number of smaller tenants? I was looking up the various other T3 locations (https://t3bayside.com/t3-worldwide/) but couldn't find...

    Toronto T3 Sterling Road | 52.52m | 11s | Hines | DLR

Thanks, that’s definitely interesting to know! I was actually curious specifically about the 3rd building in T3 Sterling though, the one that seems to be called “the Foundry”. Is there a reason it’s not being built at the same time as the other two buildings? And wondering if the design will...

    Toronto T3 Sterling Road | 52.52m | 11s | Hines | DLR

Curious if there are any renderings or plans available for the 3rd of the T3 buildings? So far everything available seems to be about the two buildings next to the MoCA, but no nothing about the building on the east side of Sterling, across from the MoCA.

I wonder with the huge increases in cost of lumber, will the design of these building be affected? And same as for 77 Wade? (Or is heavy timber a totally different thing from the construction lumber where costs have increased?)

    Toronto The Sterling Automotive | 69.2m | 19s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

I'm pretty sure Brad Lamb did not inherit these tenants when he purchased the property. He sent out a mass email to his marketing list in December 2019 advertising hard lofts for rent: "Loft style rental opportunity! Two recently renovated units now available in The Junction at 1407-1409 Bloor...

    Toronto House of Assembly | 61.85m | 17s | Marlin Spring | Graziani + Corazza

Looks like this is going to be called "House of Assembly"? https://www.houseofassembly.com

    Toronto The Twelve Hundred | 29.32m | 8s | Fieldgate | Arcadis

I like the mix of brick and glass, and how the difference in materials make the glass portion optically recede. So in this rendering, the brick portions almost look like two separate buildings - a taller "5 storey" one to the south, and a shorter "3 story" one to the north. Not sure if in real...

Totally random, but that guy in the photo walking along the outer edge is giving me anxiety...

Agreed - the contrast is what makes it nice! This is particularly evident in the example you pointed out with Gehry's Luma Arles in France... the flat parts make the crinkle so much better :) Source: https://www.dezeen.com/2020/03/05/frank-gehrys-luma-arles-tower-near-completion-photography/

https://www.sterlingjunction.com Is this possibly the website for this project? Or maybe it's a different site... can't keep track...

I'm quite excited about this project... seems like an interesting design!

So, it's been a while since I've looked, but it seems the city's Development Applications page has changed? I can't seem to locate the application documents anymore (or maybe they just haven't been uploaded yet in this case?). Anyone know how to get to the architectural drawings?

    Toronto Regent Park: Daniels DuEast | 96.31m | 29s | Daniels | Core Architects

Interesting, where did you hear this? There were initially plans for a grocery store in the Artworks tower but it seems that got cancelled, so if it was because a grocery store is going into DuEast that would make sense.

Toronto Regent Park: Daniels Artworks Tower | 105.76m | 33s | Daniels | BDP Quadrangle

Just saw the Ace Hotel thread, and that brick building looks absolutely lovely. Given that this is going to be a decently tall tower, also with some brick elements, I wonder what the likelihood of this one turning out just as nice is going to be.

    Toronto MRKT | 53.03m | 15s | Tridel | CS&P

Um... why does the marketing video on Tridel's MRKT page showcase Area+001 and Milk (Sneaker Boutique)? Area 001 is at Queen/Ossington, and Milk is at Dupont/Dundas. Neither of which are anywhere this condo...

    Toronto MRKT | 53.03m | 15s | Tridel | CS&P

The courtyard, mews, and community garden -- so good! I hope it actualizes like the rendering or better. This is the kind of stuff that would be great if it could be incorporated into all buildings...
