    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

Indeed. There's also a March 2024 tender for "Next Gen Bus" communication (electric and hydrogen). https://www.metrolinx.merx.com/public/solicitations/2829946356/abstract

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

TTC is testing out a Flux Capacitor to see if they can make streetcars run on schedule. More seriously, it's a film set. You can see the crew to the left of the flames and another team ready to put the flames out on the sidewalk.

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

Dundas BRT was [is?] considering Hydrogen as an electrification option. They might need to put a price on it to reject it in favour of battery buses. Worth noting, the Ontario Government recently invested in a Hydrogen production facility as an alternative to selling excess overnight...

    Canada's Wonderland sold

One of the reasons Vail is so successful is their global ski-passes. For double the price of a typical ski pass, they let you into any of their properties. You can ski every weekend and not hit the same hill twice in a year: a very attractive offer to upper-middle-class. Next obvious step for...

Zero. It's city land, and Chow isn't going to go that direction.

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Indeed. We don't seem to have an aversion to the cost of elevators at both ends of a bridge anymore as seen over various GO corridors. The 40m height requirement doesn't seem as insurmountable today as it did 20 years ago.

Huh. Reads like some older Class A building with large available sublets within walking distance of Union, like 121 King West or 33 Yonge, is going to get a gift from the province.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Sigh, Yes I mistakenly said "TTC operators" when I meant "TTC operations". Operations including their inspection/maintenance teams too. There's a big difference between being shown the controls in the cab and puttering back and forth on the track, and the maintenance team being allowed to take...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Frankly, I wouldn't believe any date Metrolinx provided before TTC operators get into the system: Metrolinx has never prepared for an high-capacity opening day service before. I expect TTC to has a large list of concerns, though Metrolinx may choose to defer handling most of them.

Both ROM and AGO receive significant private funding for large-scale renovations every couple decades. Structures built to modern code almost always have much lower energy and maintenance costs than older structures of the same size. In addition, revenue for ROM and AGO was considerably higher...

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

That's pretty close: Ontario Land Registry blocks below. It's kinda an odd area. The condominiums own the bulk of the land but there are half a dozen permanent easements for the Scrinever Square roadway, parking for the LCBO, Subway tunnel (between LCBO and 20 Scrinever Square), etc. Fire...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

That would be nice, though we haven't had a TTC CEO successful at reducing the SOGR backlog for a couple decades so I'm inclined to believe this isn't possible for the TTC CEO (or General Manager before that title) to do. Byford achieved more with the same money (by blowing through a warehouse...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Personally, I can't imagine how difficult that task must be as they only receive enough money from the city to repair about half the things on the list. How do you choose which half of the soon-to-be-broken things to repair? SRT components definitely were not at the top of the list.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

Wikipedia is regularly incorrect. I'm pretty sure Crestpoint bought it, and JLL brokered the transaction.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

They sold it in 2016 (according to their website) at the same time they sold the "Shops of Summerhill" block to the south which is currently being developed. I'm unsure who the current owner is but I don't believe it is the LCBO. LCBO doesn't mention a purchase in their 2016-17 annual report...

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

Interim terminal is not infield. Airside bussing does not excite me as a passenger. "Gateway" phase is additional piers on T1, but not necessarily the same layout as was originally proposed. This was apparently published on April 12th at the same time as the announcement but I'm not sure...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Fixed that for you. Metrolinx has no authority over what they do or do not share; they have pretty firm orders that everything goes through the Minister of Transportation first and anything actually interesting is examined for political ramifications upstream from them.

    Toronto The HUB | 258.46m | 59s | Oxford Properties | Rogers Stirk Harbour

Harbour 60, the restaurant, is expanding to 4 floors for events, and the 5th floor for offices. The entire structure is being brought up to modern code https://toronto.citynews.ca/2023/02/24/harbour-60-toronto-event-space/

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

4613 acres with a value of about $1.5M/acre (industrial/commercial zoning in Mississauga) gives Pearson a vacant land value of about $6.9B. Not all of that is actually usable due to wetlands plus roadway allowances if built out so lets say $5B. At $170M/year for the lease that gives them a cap...
