Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Can those faregates even operate reliably outdoors? I expect they are putting in an enclosed space because they cannot and that the existing mechanical turnstiles didn't need them due to a higher tolerance of severe environmental conditions.

    Toronto Bike Share

From the posted maps it should extend as far as Long Branch so Col Sam Smith is covered. As for the Junction that's in too as it looks like Dundas is covered all the way to Scarlett.

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

There are turnstiles at the loop today. Also at the Exhibition loop, they are used for large crowds during the CNE. Presumably the design of the loop has to change to be made accessible and the turnstiles don't fit the bill.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The plan for that is no enforcement. Everyone has heard that it is recommended you wear masks but when you tell people it is mandatory there is a nudge that will cause more to wear them. It will not be universal, just like fares, but if we can get higher compliance we will slow the spread of...

Those off-street lanes are there to connect bike infrastructure on Florence Street (which has a Contra-flow bicycle lane) to Waterloo and Gladstone which connects to the Argyle route. I've biked it before and after and despite appearances it is an improvement. It was a challenge to execute...

    Toronto Bike Share

Operations of the system have been contracted out since the Toronto Parking Authority takeover from the Public Bike System Company in 2014. First it was Alta Bicycle Share (AKA Motivate) and currently Shift Transit.

    Toronto Bike Share

I've used it. There's been a rumor that -- you know, a very nice rumor -- that you go outside in the sun you have heat and it does have an effect on other viruses. Bike share may have spoken to the medical doctors to see if there's any way that you can apply light to the handlebars.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

Looking at Steve Munro's pictures from yesterday it appears the 505 streetcars have poles up at Broadview station. That implies that some other sections remain to be completed.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The wire frogs can wear in the more frequent direction of travel and so this kind of thing will occur more frequently on a short turn or diversion. In the video you can see the trolley pole is just following the eastbound College wire. I expect you wouldn't see similar occurrences at...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The ones that come to mind are: Doesn't de-wire Higher current collection Simplified wiring at intersections in areas of low clearance it doesn't impact reliability of contact I also believe the collectors take longer to wear than the trolley pole carbons, but I'm not quite sure about that one.

It is supposed to link to the path on the east side through Mouth of the Creek parK: I heard from an employee at Fort York that the park that Rail Deck park planning has delayed work on this park as the interface...

Doubt cars will end up in the tunnel as much from the east as that is one very wide right turn. Though I agree that it would likely reduce the severity of the issue when cars enter from the west, and if they build up the concrete up to track level along the east-west portion, the cars will be...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

A few interesting tidbits from Steve Munro in: TTC Streetcar Network Changes in 2020 Sections of Dundas are now pantograph only, but with all the delays in upgrading the overhead not all of the 505 route is ready for pantograph use. TTC staff will be stationed at Dundas & Broadview to assist...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The report title indicates this work will "Extend Bicycle Lanes" and maybe I'm missing something but I don't see that the lanes on the Queensway are being extended to the lanes on Roncesvalles.

    Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Transit operators in other cities may have some quaint notion about the meaning of "express" but in Toronto we rightly use the term for a transit line that will stop at every local station on the way to its destination. EXPRESS!
