It’s confirmed, site alteration work is almost complete. Vupoint towers has begun. This will be the first tower above 40 storeys built in Durham. It’s crazy how times have changed. I remember when 25-storeys was considered high lol.

Just to add, this is within the MTSA so there will be future development surrounding these towers. I believe the applicants also added that they would like to build 5 towers in total. (if approved). Furthermore, in Ajax’s 2051 vision, this whole stretch of Westney (from Fairall Street to Bayly)...

Strongly agree, the designs could be a lot better. The building should be mixed-use and I think it should be taller as well (20+ at least).

Yes it’s currently the tallest in Durham but will be replaced next year by Tower 3 at 31 storeys. A lot of high-rise pre construction towers are going to commence soon, so this tower won’t hold the title for too long.

Construction is currently on hold, due to issues with environmental remediation. This need to be resolved with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks before construction can continue on this mixed-use development.

If only PTC was managed by Cadillac Fairview, Oxford or even Rio Canada.

Just an update, they are planning to build out other areas in the “Ajax Go station mixed-use area” so these towers aren’t the only ones going up if approved. In addition, the building design will change overtime to look more pleasing (those designs were just for the proposal purpose). Lastly the...
