    Rob Ford's Toronto

It's the Crown that wants to give him the pass, from what I've read. Also, another thought: Goldsbie was tweeting this afternoon about letters going before the court and whether they could/would be released, and whether the contents could be published. I imagine those are the letters from...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

That's the issue, isn't it. If Rob's doctors are writing letters to a judge saying he's not well enough to testify, they're probably also telling Rob to stay home and take it easy. Unfortunately, they can't make Rob not do stuff on his own. But they can get a judge to cooperate with their...

Sometimes bans extend beyond reporting evidence. I have experience with this one. Thankfully, the judge was the forgiving type.

    Lameport wins the Internet today.

It depends on the details of the ban. The basic prohibition is on previewing evidence before a trial, the theory being it might cause potential jurors to form opinions based on stuff that wasn't presented at trial. Other aspects of process might be reportable, but that depends on how aggressive...

Heck. He was healthy to attend council and hand business cards out to kids. If the judge gives him a pass now, I'll.... I'll... I'll...

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

No kidding. I don't see how any one would be surprised that he has occasional days where his itinerary is empty. Maybe he's reading those reports. Or maybe even taking a day off. Regardless of whether you like him or not, the man does put in the hours.

Seven ways to make Toronto a world-class city again

FWIW, I kind of like the overhead wires. Toronto has a dowdy charm that I find quite appealing. I certainly like it more than the concrete and glass that seems to dominate current construction. Those windows are magnets are for dust and grit. Doesn't take long before they start looking shabby...

I thought that was more or less the plan all along.

You're assuming the Sun still has copy editors. (FYI. That's a comment on newsrooms generally, not just the one at the Sun.)

What? You never hearda the Great State of Winnipeg. Right over there by the river. Across from Detroit.

Surprised, Jimmi? Jumping on the bandwagon and then claiming the credit (but not blame) is a basic Rob tactic, as far as I can tell. The Scarborough subway extension and Woodbine Live come immediately to mind. And as you know, Rob was the one who taught Doug and Randy how to run the family business.

    Raccoons

I wonder if that explains why we don't have problems with them at my house. (The fact my property backs onto a parking lot, and not a laneway, likely plays a big role, too.)

Aw, cut 'em some slack. The kerning is flawless.

You can count on that. My wife had colon surgery a few years ago. The procedure was done with keyhole techniques (not the big flap they're opening up in Rob), and she was out it for several days. It took close to a month for her start feeling somewhat normal, but her docs were strict about...

    Raccoons

I wonder if we'll have the choice of keeping the old bins. Raccoons aren't much of problem around my house. I'd prefer to keep my small bin and have the porch space.

Speaking as an oldtimer in the journo business, I'd say it's a weird article rather than a weird study. The writer is not in control of their vocabulary.

Seven ways to make Toronto a world-class city again

Haha. I wouldn't paint with quite as broad a brushstroke myself, but it's a point well made: you can't buy greatness. You've got to look at your DNA and build on what you do well. In Toronto, I'd say its strongest organic asset is its neighbourhood identities. That's something the city can build...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I have a question, JG. Rob said earlier his doctors wanted his tumor to shrink to two centimetres, or thereabouts, before going ahead with surgery. He described his tumor as much larger today. Allowing for the fact that Rob is not articulate, any thoughts on why the story has changed? My guess...

Ah. Thanks. I was wondering about that neurologist bit.
