Well, technically, since the cladding isn't from the Champagne region of France, the colour's actually 'sparkling tan'. (Dumb jokes aside, this looks stellar. Really looking forward to seeing it!)

A Shoppers, a Royal Bank and a Subway. You know, quality.

1661 Queen Street East (Live Nation, 2s, IBI)

Big congratulations to IBI on making an already pedestrian-hostile building even more so. Kudos.

Agreed. Scotia Plaza changed materials on their concourse level presumably to brighten the corners and the result is bland – it now looks a lot more like any number of other places. It's an office tower lobby, it can be more grand and less 'warm'. (And I don't find it particularly 'cold' feeling...

Ontario legalizing e-scooters!!! (Bird, Lime, segway, electric kickscooter, micro mobility, electric skateboards)

They're a great idea in theory , though the balance between helpfulness and annoyance varies from city to city. They were all over Portland when I was there last year, and the sidewalks there are pretty narrow, so when people were thoughtless (ie, all the time) and just left scooters lying about...

All right class, what did we learn? Repeat after me: "I will not rely on BlogTO to provide anything resembling accurate reporting".

Dear sir. There are too many states nowadays. Please eliminate six. PS I am not a crank.

Nice. It makes a nice visual echo of the streetscape just across Cherry Street, helping to tie the Distillery and Canary districts together. (Pic via Google Streetview, obvs)

Stackt Container Market (28 Bathurst St, future park)

I'm sure it'll look much much better once it's full of people and the weather warms up, but I do wish they'd gone with a variety of colours for the shipping containers instead of all black.

Well, it wouldn't be a proper transit napkin doodle (I'm not going to dignify it by calling it a 'plan') without some suburban dipshit plunking a fantastically expensive subway station in the middle of a giant parking lot

389 Church St Modernization (Toronto Community Housing, 13s, Hilditch Architect/WSP Global)

Decent materials, interesting shape, the ribbon windows give it a nice vertical rhythm, and there's some colourful murals. It obviously needs some love (hence the current work) and like so many buildings of the era the ground floor isn't terribly welcoming, but I'd take this over the new builds...

That's where we set the money on fire that could be used for better things. (I believe it's staging for the Gardiner East rebuild.)

I'm with Edward – the Eastern Ave bridge should be cleaned up and made safe, and it could be a nice pedestrian lookout point. But take out the Enbridge bridge, sure.

    Toronto | T3 Bayside | 41m | 10s | Hines | 3XN

Looks promising. Certainly much more attractive to look at from Queen's Quay than the north side of Aquavista. The database file mentions below-grade parking, but the render and model both have cars on the second floor. Has that changed? (It could be a cheeky rejoinder to people concerned about...

I love that room in the ICA. It gives this feel of being perpetually on the verge of being tipped out of a box into the water. (photo mine)
