I'm also surprised that the flimsy looking crate is able to support the weight of the panel on that angle.

So there's only one piece of cladding per crate? Wow!

Not necessarily. The Queen Elizabeth Way highway was named after Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother when she was Queen Consort to King George VI. So there's Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth before Queen Elizabeth II.

    Montréal Transit Developments

If SkyTrain breaks down, it's not usually the whole line, so they set up bus bridges. That said, there are less frequent 'local' bus routes that provide last block service along some corridors like Cambie St.

So bringing back to STC, maybe Oxford is gun shy with pouring money into STC and the Scarborough market after its Square One experience didn't pan out as well as it had hoped.

How about a rotating sign above the turret? Like this Birks sign on Vancouver's Vancouver Block (which was the last of a string of different signs removed in 1974) https://www.vancouverblock.org/architecture/

WOW! To the undersides of those corner balconies! Curious about the 5 little dots on them - drainage holes, lights or attachment points for something? Thanks!

Toronto Scarborough Town Centre Redevelopment | ?m | 65s | Oxford Properties | BDP Quadrangle

You'd think that Oxford would have the pockets to either improve or reinvent STC (i.e. it also owns Yorkdale), but yeah, it could be a reputational bias against Scarborough and in favour of other wealthier suburbs like Markham. There's also the demise of the traditional mall as well. It could...

Toronto Scarborough Town Centre Redevelopment | ?m | 65s | Oxford Properties | BDP Quadrangle

The subway will make it convenient to get to the mall. Compared to the current bus only transit option (and the RT) to STC, there will be easier and higher capacity transit access which should translate to more traffic in the area. If you are on the Danforth line (east of Yonge), some will...

When the subway is completed (when?) there will be more traffic through the mall. The big empty spaces will be filled by then.

These pics really show how expressing the cantilever struts on the exterior serve to streamline the look of the tower.

Aren't those footings for the OMC?

Simons may have to open up the passageway by removing display tables, etc.

They are pipes for concrete pumps. Eventually they may install a more permanent pump and boom system like on tower construction.

That's a lot of people heading into Simons!

It must be a marketing / inventory strategy to densely stock the stores. The West Van Park Royal store is also 'cramped'. Strangely, the women's floor is smaller than the men's at the Park Royal store and the main aisle on the ground floor is packed with merchandise tables and racks.

I like it better than the one with the slapped on cladding with the funny angled cuts.

    Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

This is such a weird place for a sign, basically facing the Roots in the mall entrance alcove, especially since there will (won't there?) be a blade sign that will be visible down Yonge St.

    Toronto Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Looks amazing! Curious why so many rivets? I suppose it's because the material is thin and there's a lot of angles and bends. Hope the rivets (could be screws) don't form an entry point for water or create streaky dirt or rust stains that will drip down from each rivet. Likewise, I hope that...

Also curious whether the curved balcony glass will continue above the podium (which also has the curved glass) or change to faceted panels on the next level up.
