    VIA Rail

I'm baffled by the federal government's failure on this issue. They could step up and regulate CN into the 21st century. I'm going to annoy my MP's office on this.

    VIA Rail

As a citizen with little technical knowledge about shunts, I step back from this discussion and see an industry that can't and a government that won't. I look at the transportation systems in other "less developed" countries and I'm ashamed of Canada.

    Toronto Ontario Line: Gerrard Station | 15.38m | 2s | Metrolinx | HDR

It looks as though the portal plateau park will be directly accessible from the massive podium below those three towers. If so it will be a nice sunny spot in the mornings with afternoon shade. A thousand people living in the tiny box apartments will be glad of it. Any they get to watch the...

    Transit Fantasy Maps

Didn't the city actually plan this line several years ago and then decide it wouldn't work?

    VIA Rail

I can see running some legacy service from Kingston to Kitchener and stopping somewhere for a shuttle to Pearson (I just don't think a scheme to take tracks through yyz will happen). The HSR services no, unless they are extended west. But that's 2050, isn't it.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I don't agree that it's a high priority, but I'll admit the ship has sailed. I'll be interested to see what route and technology go forward, at what preposterous cost per mile and rider.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Maybe they think they have figured out a way to build it at international price standards, rather than hugely inflated anglosphere engineering racket prices.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Not even close. They did the minimum to stabilize the 12 minute headway. They could get to 10 minutes with Walkley doubled, which is not that difficult since the area for the second track and platform was leveled and it could mostly be built without shutting down the system. 7.5 minutes is a...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

I like your map. I think I proposed the same scheme somewhere a few months ago but without so much competence😀 I don't completely agree that an extra hockey train is impossible. It would be disruptive and could likely only be done once per game, but holding northbound trains late evening to...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

I don't think there is any plan to use the second platform regularly; it's a backup in case of platform or track problems. Though I do wonder they might use it for an extra train once the hockey arena is built, if they can figure out a way to insert that into the ballet that is scheduling line 2.

You forgot one, unless you think it's a Tramway à vapeur, which it may turn out to be.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Still to be resolved however are the unreasonable slow orders around some of the curves. As I have pointed out (ad nauseum, I fear) the trains are crawling around "tight curves" that are several times looser than the minimums for the vehicles and are on a par with some heavy rail systems. If...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Didn't Metrolinx say a few years ago that electrification could go through without removing the Bush shed? Or at the very least, they were working on it. Close to a decade later, nothing is clear. Much of the problem with Metrolinx is that they will never answer a question directly, clearly...

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

Canadian transit operators have very little competence around new technologies. I recall that Ottawa bought hybrids back in the aughts and city council instructed OC to use them on urban routes with frequent stops and measure the fuel savings. OC came back a few years later and said that that...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Ya? I think reactivating Downsview as an airport for southward pointing airborne defence is just as likely.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

And after the alignment and stations are decided upon behind closed doors, there will be no further discussion.

Yes, they'd look very nice sailing through Scarborough.

I can't wait to see the Lego model of this building.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

The problem with the western route is this: South of Bloor, Dufferin needs help and would be improved by wholesale redevelopment, while Roncesvalles is just the opposite. North of Bloor, Jane needs help but any southern route that far west has all sorts of obstacles. So, my own Personal Crayon...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Ottawa is still doing some integration testing and maintenance work, but they're trying to make it less disruptive. In July, the closure is a Sunday morning plus a full weekend where a bus replaces the train. On the other hand, they ran full service for free all day Canada and many people who...
