    Toronto Bike Share

Found out this morning BIXI Montréal plans to have 50 bike trailers by the end of this year which can be used with their BIXI bikes. Hope Bike Share Toronto takes note and brings them in ASAP! https://bsky.app/profile/ohtheurbanity.bsky.social/post/3ludykhath224

    Orangeville-Brampton Railway (OBRY)

The Town of Caledon's website says it's in the detailed design and construction phase, but didn't see any construction notices? https://www.caledon.ca/en/living-here/caledon-rail-to-trail-crt-project.aspx

    East Don Trail Project

I went by the East Don Trail yesterday on the way to Ride The Meadoway and made a couple of observations. 1. Some ground remediation work has been done now that the tunnel has been put in place since late May. 2. Some wooden planks were placed inside the tunnel. Not sure why, but still worth...

    RapidTO: Master Thread

I would take this with a grain of salt if I were you. You would need to have a site in Montréal ready to go to accommodate extra FWC26 games in Canada while they probably don't have enough time to do the necessary preparations.

    East Don Trail Project

The TRCA finally posted an update on the East Don Trail website after not having done so since November. -- PHASE 1 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: SUMMER 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 The pedestrian tunnel was installed over the weekend of May 30-June 2, 2025, with work continuing to progress, including...

Cycling: West Toronto Railpath (City of Toronto, Phase II Proposed)

There needs to be some serious calling out to find out whether the extension will start construction this year. It's been taking way too long, while the $150M price tag is dubious.

    RapidTO: Master Thread

TCBC put up a new post on Bluesky and Facebook calling out the hypocrisy of Protect Bathurst. https://bsky.app/profile/bikewaysto.bsky.social/post/3ltyzzafgos2a https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1G2j8KAGvi/

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

The Lake to Lake Route is expected to go to Georgina instead of Bradford. However, I do agree a separate trail towards Bradford (and on to Barrie) needs to be done.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Not sure if there was a separate "Lake to Lake Route" thread here, but East Gwillimbury is planning to extend the Lake to Lake Route 1.5 km north along Yonge from the Nokiidaa Trail head to Doane Road Pedestrian Bridge...

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

The Downtown Concerned Citizens Organization, IntegrityTO and Protect Bathurst are teaming up for a July 15 press conference which will include expressing their opposition to bike lanes & TTC RapidTO bus priority lanes (among other matters). https://www.instagram.com/integrity_to/p/DMApmVHsk-T/

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Only one block of Logan from Cosburn to Gowan would get a contraflow bike lane. This is to make Carlaw accessible from Cosburn.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Regarding Broadview, the most realistic way to extend the bikeway south of Cosburn is to bring it to Chester Hill which has a contraflow. You would then need to convert the westbound Danforth bike lane from Broadview to Cambridge to a bi-directional to allow southbound bike traffic to travel east.

    RapidTO: Master Thread

Given the disappointment with city staff capitulating to the car-brains with RapidTO on Dufferin & Bathurst Streets (which will now only cover south of Bloor), I prepared an action alert my blog encouraging people to e-mail the Executive Committee by Tuesday, July 15 at 4:30 PM & sign the...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

This just popped up on the City's cycling public consultation page. There will be a public consultation for Kipling Avenue from Mount Olive to Albion happening tomorrow (5:30 - 7:30 PM) at Rexdale Community Hub (21 Panorama Court). Given the short notice, you can submit your feedback online by...

    RapidTO: Master Thread

In all fairness, I did recall seeing on the Dufferin project materials that they were looking at the possibility of prioritizing the south of Bloor part even before all that baloney from "Protect Dufferin" and "Protect Bathurst" was thrown around. Still pretty disappointing nonetheless.

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

Saw this pop up on Reddit this morning about a new astroturf campaign called "Citizens of Toronto". If you check their "citizensof416" Instagram feed, they already showed support for Protect Bathurst and Downtown Concerned Citizens Organization, while the fact they already have over 700...

    RapidTO: Master Thread

Not sure when those "Protect Bathurst" car-brains changed their website, but it appears they shifted their messaging ahead of next week's RapidTO debate at Executive Committee by now only calling for a pause north of Bloor. Even so, we still need to support TTCriders with this fight.

    East Don Trail Project

I saw someone share a photo in the "Cycling in Toronto" Facebook group yesterday saying it was reopened again? Guess we'll have to deal with intermittent closures for the time being.

Which will likely get voted down since Shamji is a Liberal. :(
