    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

In regards to the cancellation of the ONxpress contract, I think what's really bothering people is the fact that electrification isn't going to happen as soon as they thought it would. People, on Reddit, are responding to this article as if MX isn't doing anything right now. - South Union...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

The train I took on the Elisabeth line terminated at Heathrow. It didn't go pass the airport towards Reading. It made intermediary stops on the way to the airport similar to the UPX does on it's way to Pearson. Heathrow Express goes straight from Paddington to the airport. The UPX does not...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Last I checked, Terminal 2 is the airport. Trying to argue it's an intermediary stop between Paddington and Heathrow is being ingenuine. The Heathrow Express goes express to the airport from Paddington. Simple as. The UPX does not offer the same service. It's more comparable to the Elisabeth...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

Then we're looking at negotiating with CN to construct the 407 freight bypass in order to take freight off the Kitchener line and run a third track through downtown Brampton, hopefully all the way to Kitchener.

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

You can't compared the Heathrow Express to UPX because the HE runs EXPRESS to Heathrow from Paddington. Do you want to run the UPX in a similar fashion between Union and Pearson??? You seem to be against such a proposal based off of your "angry face" emoji response to my earlier post.

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

A couple weeks ago, I rode the Elisabeth line in London to Terminal 2 at Heathrow. The train was difficult to board and was standing room only. It was crowded due to all the passengers with their luggage. I pretty much expect this with any train that goes to & from an airport. It's not just...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Such a ridiculous proposal. "We're going to jack up ticket prices in order to discourage you from using this train. You're suppose to be on the GO train!" Again, if you're so bothered by people using the UPX for commuting purposes, than run the trains express between Union & Pearson. You're...

    Mississauga Mississauga Transitway | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | IBI Group

For the past 7 years, I've driven on the 403 in Mississauga almost daily to get to & from work. I don't often see Miway buses on the western portion at Winston Churchill & Erin Mills. Someone with more knowledge than me, such as @drum118 would probably know better, but my guess for the poor...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

If you're really bothered by people using the UPX as a commuter service, then we could just run the trains express between Union & Pearson. Better option than jacking up the price for people not going to Pearson.

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

I was on the UPX twice a couple weeks ago and it was busy with people going to & from the airport. Something I've noticed recently is that people are parking at the airport, or somewhere near the airport, and then taking the UPX to get downtown to catch a Leafs, Raptors, Blues Jays game.

New GO Train Control+Signalling (PTC, CBTC, ETC) -- Safety & Subway-Like Frequency

I bet they are. It never made sense to announce a new signaling system for GO trains without any consultation with the freight rail companies. Can a passenger rail network be operated with two different types of signals? Am I suppose to believe that GO trains would have operated under ETCS...

    General railway discussions

Well, it seems Brightline in Florida is not faring well, financially. Unfortunately this is even in light of rising ridership. It seems the Brightline model is profitable for longer haul journeys between Miami and Orlando. But shorter journeys are proving to be less profitable and now...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I just came back from my second trip to London, U.K. and I have to say I'm really turning against noise walls. I took a day trip to Bath via the GWR, and I didn't see a single noise wall along the entire ride. People's backyards and apartment patios were clearly visible, and backed right up...

Highway 401 Transit and Auto Tunnel

I feel that we should construct the 407 transitway before we seriously consider a transit tunnel under the 401.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Not sure if you know this, but when GO schedules their employees and assign them trains, do they take into consideration where the employees live? Do they typically try to assign their staff to work the line closest to where they live? Or are there scenarios where a staff member lives in...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

You mean Niagara Falls to Burlington? You're just going to forget the entire Milton and Richmond Hill lines? I want to see GO trains down to 1 man cabin crews. But the Ontario government, Metrolinx, and ONXpress don't have the jurisdiction to force that to happen. It's up to the feds. People...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

If what some people in this thread are saying is true, then clearly OnXpress came into this not knowing what they were getting themselves into. When it comes to crew sizes, you first have to get the Feds involved because having two members in the cabin is a federal regulation applied to all...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think what we're witnessing is Metrolinx taking a "back to basics" approach and focusing on getting AD2W service on all the lines before committing to electrification. If that's the case, then the renewing/ extending of the contract with Alstom was more than adequate to achieving this goal...

Roads: Highway 407 East (Durham Region)

You see, this is the wrong type of thinking towards the 401. Yes a lot of car drivers who are simply passing by Toronto will contribute nothing to the local economy. Yet the 401 was built to accommodate the movement of freight/ trucks. A truck delivering a good from the U.S. Rust belt to...
