The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

You're confusing me, what do you mean "from Don Valley until east of the 404"? Isn't the Don Valley and the 404 the same highway? Do you mean "from Don Mills until east of the 404"? Something else to consider regarding elevating these tracks is that there is a hydro corridor going over Eglinton...

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

I know I constantly advocate for subways over LRTs on this forum. I just want to be clear that just because I'm pro subway, doesn't mean I want the entire line underground. I'm not against elevating or even running tracks at grade where ever it makes sense to do so. So long as the line is...

The Future of subway and rapid transit in the GTA

If the GO Bolton line were ever to become a reality, it would be nice to have a connection with line 4. Probably somewhere in the area of Sheppard & Rivalda Rd. Just knock down that Tim's and commercial building. Connection with Jane LRT? You mean the Jane subway?🤔

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

It doesn't. I'm familiar with the "wooshing" sound a lot of these higher speed, electric trains make as they fly by. Just wondering why in England, people will live right beside a busy mainline, and the noise from the trains passing by doesn't seem to bother them. But here in Ontario we have to...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

If I could give this post a million "thumbs up", I would. This is precisely what I've been preaching for years now. The argument being made now for the LRT's is "they're faster than a bus stuck in rush hour traffic". Well then why didn't we simply construct bus lanes? Then the argument becomes...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

What happens when we "eventually" electrify the lines and noise is no longer an issue? I'm just thinking back to my recent trips to England where it's common to see people's backyards back onto a rail line and noise walls are never even considered. We're talking about rail line that likely sees...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Too bad for them. If you live right beside a railroad track and don't like seeing trains, than either move out or live with it.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Can't stand Metrolinx's overuse of noise walls. Part of the enjoyment of riding the train is looking out the window and watching the world go by. Not to mention they attract taggers and graffiti. Also the bottom floor of the GO train is shrouded in darkness. Even on a sunny day. I rode the...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I must have missed it. Where did they talk about the RH line?

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Did the contractor replace the fencing for all the backyard properties backing onto Hurontario?

    Toronto Bloor–Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

When are they going to knock down the elevated SRT tracks at Kennedy?

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Seeing this only makes me wish more that Line 5 was an actual subway.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

How badly does GO need more locomotives? Would they seriously consider ordering new diesel locomotives, regardless of all the talk about eventually electrifying the network? I know MotivePower no longer exisists but couldn't Wabtec manufactuer any new MPI's for GO?

    GO 2.0 Expansion Plan

Isn't it basically the 407 transitway?

    PM Mark Carney's Canada

I just watched her and the rest of NDP caucus talking to the media at Parliament hill after the vote. Unless I'm seeing things, I'm fairly certain she was there.

    Keir Starmer's United Kingdom

I'm genuinely curious to hear you elaborate on this. Even if you want to send me a DM instead of posting it on this thread.

    PM Mark Carney's Canada

So two of the NDP members actually showed up for the vote and still abstained? If you're going to abstain then wouldn't you just not show up?

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

To be fair to Doug Ford (and I'm no fan of his), I couldn't see the situation being much different if the Liberals or NDP were in charge. Instead of Michael Lindsay, we'd have some other guy feeding us the exact same BS.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Doesn't bother me too much. When I was in London, England a lot of the Underground stations seemed to have long, winding tunnels commuters had to walk through to get above ground. Particularly with stations that had lines intersecting with each other and you had to transfer to another line. I...

    Parking - Catch All

My guess is the city has determined that the benefits of "out of towners" coming to Toronto and spending money is worth more to the city than charging more for parking.
