Dundas West/ Bloor Mobility Hub +interconnected hub network (Metrolinx)

Some cities have actually employed such a strategy. London has the graffiti tunnel.

Not a fan of the tagging on the glass/ windowed portions of the noise walls. Blocks the views of the GO trains.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

No plans to widen the QEW in Mississauga? Or the small N-S stretch of the 403 right on the Oakville/ Mississauga border? That's the most congested spot for me on my daily commute to work.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

When I was in Manchester, it was quite common to see diesel trains running on tracks that had all the wiring and infrastructure setup to allow for electric trains. So perhaps the transition from diesel to electric isn't quite as straight forward as people here are making it out to be. Infact I...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

With record setting GO bus ridership, MX should get serious about the 407 transitway and further building out & improving the Mississauga Transitway.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Running electric and diesel train side by side on LSW; - Would probably have to construct a fourth track along LSW to Oakville. Not sure if that's feasible. - CN still runs trains up to Clarkson. Hence the need for a fourth track.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I shot a short video clip of some of the older bike infrastructure in Manchester. Here's what appears to be brand new bike infrastructure in the Deansgate area of Manchester. I was impressed by the amount of markings and lines on the paths.

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

I took this photo on Saturday June 14th a couple hours before my flight to Manchester. This was my third time going through Terminal 1 this year. First two trips to London and this one to Manchester. It's been like this every time I go. The first trip I didn't care so much, but by the third...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Until municipalities fix their buses and provide more frequencies, and better connections with GO stations, it's not fair to charge riders for parking.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

I don't doubt that. I'm sure construction costs WILL be high. But CPKC will charge GO a lot to build tracks on their land. It's an extra cost on top of the already high construction costs. IIRC, I head somewhere on this forum that when Metrolinx was working on the Kitchener line for the UP...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Come on man! How many times have we already discussed this on these forums? CPKC doesn't just own the tracks, but also the immediately adjacenting land beside the tracks. For GO to lay down tracks along the Milton line requires extensive negotiating with CPKC.

With battery trains, MX would have to construct the infrastructure to charge the batteries. Easier said than done.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I mispoke. I meant Rutherford. I often get Renforth, Rutherford and Rathburn mixed up.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Apologies, I know we've had this conversation probably some where earlier in this thread. Is the plan to add express trains on the Barrie line by constructing strategically place sidings along the line? Where exactly are these sidings going to be located? There's a third track/ siding at...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Yes... but I would love nothing more than to see one in the GO livery.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

CN & CP won't build new track lines to serve customers. If we're talking containers, then CN & CP will expect their customers to either truck their containers to their yards. Or utilize CN and CP's trucking lines to bring the containers to the Intermodal yard on the customer's dime. In most...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

More capacity at Union station on weekends? No Milton, RH trains. Fewer Kitchener trains. More staff available for the Lakeshore line.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

It IS difficult. It's not rocket science, but at the same time the urbanist and transit communities are under estimating the complexity of making such a switch. It's not a matter of simply stringing up wires and purchasing EMU's. The amount of infrastructure that would have to be built around...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

That all depends on what you think GO expansion entails. As I pointed out in the GO electrification thread there are many projects going on right now on the GO network. - LSE widening to 4 tracks in Toronto - double tracking on the Barrie & Stouffville line - Renovation of the southern portion...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I don't think that's entirely true. I would imagine even the "old heads" in Metrolinx have a desire to see AD2W on every line. I think some of the anonymous people interviewed for the recent, insightful article had a bone to pick with some of the higher ups at Metrolinx.
