Yep. much of that whole block was parking! It's gone from being one of the least dense blocks in the city to probably Hamilton's most dense, in terms of both residential units and buildings. Still at least another tower to go too (the second Mac residence, whenever that may happen now).

I would wager we'll hear many more stories like this one, for many buildings. Expect a Spec writeup from Joan Little in 5, 4, 3, 2.... she's been very outspoken against this project from the get-go.

    Hamilton 75 James Condos | 108m | 34s | LIUNA | Graziani + Corazza

Driving westward along Tesla Blvd. the skyline has a definite "peak" with 100 Main E. as its apex, and this is very visible.

Maybe for Supercrawl some artist can hang a giant mural from it? Seems to be all it's good for, right now.

Yep. Apparently. But I think there will be much more to come when the local market improves. These are doing a wonderful job "extending" the downtown skyline northward.

Hopefully the start of more things for that part of town.

Expect it to get a rough ride. Because won't somebody think of the children! Can't have people looking down on what others are purchasing at Fortinos and such either. 😳

Maybe in the "old city" but given the elevations in north Flamborough I'd think there's a water tower or something like that near Freelton that would qualify. Yes, I'm a geography nerd. 🤓

"But... but... it's a train shed!" Your option would make far too much sense.

Platforms are a big safety issue too. The need to keep much of the existing train shed was baffling. Sure it may have "historical value" but functionally it prevents a lot of things (e.g., in addition to limitations from the way it interacts with the platforms, the older parts are pretty low...

    Hamilton TD Coliseum Renovations | ?m | 4s | OVG | BBB

It's not easy to tell, but I wonder if the photo above shows studs going closer to the edge of the overhangs? At least the two along the Bay St. side (not the corner). Could just be closed off to create more space for construction though. Whereas before, those were open to the sidewalk...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

My bitching aside, the "revitalized" Union is much better. I lost patience for the commute and especially other commuters during the pandemic and it's yet to return... and I'm sure I've p-o'ed other people at times as well.

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

People seem oblivious to signs. I preferred the old gates too -- simple and functional. For the most part people are pretty polite about letting others through, but the new gates seem to add time. Another peeve is people whose PRESTO card doesn't work then get out their phones, and everyone...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Definitely. But there has been a number of times I've bumped into someone or seen someone else crash into someone crossing perpendicularly to the flow and not paying attention. Have also seen people trip over a crosser's pulled luggage. There's no way to help that, as it comes down to stupidity...

Thank you. It's getting harder to remember what it was like! I miss a few things, like the Dairy Queen, and the cheaper (though much more limited) food options. The new concourses are nicer and provide more access to the platforms and to the subway and PATH. But I do find the pedestrian flow a...

    Hamilton: General Service Discussion

Maybe. But I think it would need to be closer, at least initially. Mountain Plaza perhaps. Because between Rymal and Fennell Upper James isn't all that slow... yet.

    Hamilton 46-48 Ferguson Avenue South | 96.5m | 29s | Hi-Rise Group | Graziani + Corazza

I'd love it to be the tower on Pier 8, or one of the proposals right downtown around Gore Park, but I have little hope for either for a while. I'm going to guess 92 John N. or 73 Hughson N., based on the SSP diagram (you''ll have to isolate the proposals manually; doing that seems to lose the...

    Hamilton Albright Trails | 20.9m | 5s | Valery Homes | KNYMH

The house I grew up in is just off the top of that aerial. Back then Albright immediately east of Mt. Albion didn't exist... it was mostly open fields that flooded in the spring. And of course, Red Hill School was still around too, basically where the construction is happening now. The townhomes...
