GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Then that confirms it. The Galt sub is single track territory past Guelph jct. that stretch of track before Milton GO is just about the only spot where a long westbound freight could wait on the main without blocking any crossings further on. So it wasn't so much as the GO train having priority...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

I had meant to upload the pictures of Willowbrook earlier for comparison’s sake but due to a heavy workload I only got around to it recently. I’m not saying the yards should be paved over entirely, but certainly more than they are now. There are many improvements that could make them safer and...

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Except there are guys walking in freight yards all the time. From the mainline crews who pull the trains in, to the yard conductors who build the trains and the car department that pre-trips the them. Those who have only even been observers may not mind them, but as someone who used to actually...

Gas stoves as a luxury item?? You know, gas stoves were historically cheaper and widely available, so it’s amusing to me that they’ve suddenly become this “luxury” item in some circles. In reality, gas is marketed as premium because chefs prefer it, but that’s just branding and largely the...

Not likely to happen. There's only a limited number of broadcasters in any city and the CN tower and FCP likely already provide ample space for their equipment already. You won't ever see cellular antenna on top of One Bloor West. AM/FM/TV frequencies are such that they travel far, bend over...

Never thought I'd see the day when the view of a some part of the city from the CN tower would be blocked by a skyscraper. Mizrahi may be getting his ass sued today but I still thank him for helping to turn that fantasy into a reality.

This is true. An ex-coworker used to always argue with me that it should be pronounced "Stratch-han", with an emphasis on that invisible second T. 🙄🫤

Not a fan of this purposed change. A city's tallest building should stand out as much as possible; having nearby neighbors that are close in height would detract from its visual impact and diminish its symbolic prominence.

    Zipper lanes

When they rebuilt the elevated section what they should have done is added an HOV lane in each direction, it was the perfectly opportunity to do it but now that ship has sailed. Still, could definitely give the zipper HOV idea a try.

    Zipper lanes

They absolutely should’ve tried it. But in this city? Please. The powers that be in the city would rather let traffic grind to a halt than risk being seen as supporting car culture. Just give it a few moments and someone will pop in with the 'ol induced demand argument like it’s a mic drop, and...

Just what city is this?? Because it sure as heck doesn't look like the Toronto of old! 😍
