GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I stand corrected. But the most recent job listing I was directly emailed yesterday did not include the position in question..

And yet, Alstom doesn't seem overly concerned. As they don't seem to be looking for more CSRs, conductors or engineers at the moment..

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Well, technically ML control stops short of Bramalea. So even that short access would have to be negotiated. Also, all stops Bramalea to Union takes 35 minutes. If this train were going to run, it would make sense to at least serve Malton and maybe Etobicoke North, and perhaps skip Weston and...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

But let's be real. 15 minute frequency on the Kitchener Line even as far as Bramalea is still a long way into the future. Even a 60 minute service is far more reasonable at this point and should be doable, to Bramalea for sure and optimally to Mount Pleasant. Alas, according to a post a few...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Hmmm... I'm not sure if this is the place to pose this question again, but it is related so.. Even with a pushed back opening date to Spring 2023 for the ECT, the station and connection at Caledonia and the Barrie Go line doesn't seem as though it will be ready for service/use on day 1. Please...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Further to this, GO already runs hourly throughout the weekdays (minus counter-peak), and it's not quite clear why the same (or similar, something as far as Mount Pleasant, say) couldn't happen on the weekends and especially holidays as well...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

And can I ask why still no weekend/holiday train service on the Kitchener line at least as far as Mount Pleasant? With maybe a few trains extended to Kitchener? It would seem that should be theoretically possible now..

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Granted, but seeing as how UPX trains already pass through some of these areas, shouldn't an hourly train schedule be able to pass without too much trouble? And with CN as well? In the case of Guelph, there would possibly be only a couple of trains passing to/from Kitchener. I was thinking more...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I do apologize for changing the subject, but now that the 401/409 tunnels are finished, could we see weekend Kitchener Line train service? Maybe in September? As I recall, there was something about not running weekends to allow tunnel work to proceed unimpeded..

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

"$1.3 billion to keep a few dozen parking spaces on street?..." There, that's more the case really. I don't know if anyone has taken in that Main and Queen streets were just recently narrowed to single lane through traffic through the area of Four Corners anyway to accommodate on street bike...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Technically it doesn't, I grant you. But would the corridor be electrified in advance of currently known planned grade separation work? Or would it make more sense, (as it would to me), to do whatever planned work is scheduled first, then electrify. Even if currently planned work does not...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Yes I get that it could. But if ML plans to separate, they wouldn't be planning to string up the catenary until all the planned work is done. And the track is as close to final configuration as possible. Or would they??
  13. C

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

But isn't it the case that electrification of the line can't (or wouldn't) happen until all the separation work is done??

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I wonder which would be cheaper. Running bigger trains all the time so passengers can spread out more or putting in all this plexiglass.

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Maybe it’s just as well, because whenever I’m around Union, (usually at least once weekly) at least one of the existing escalators is not working. And they’re all climate-protected.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

But Bloor station isn’t even close to ready for a new track 1. New pedestrian access tunnel(?), shift of the rail path and the track 1 overpass at Bloor to shift. Does Bloor need to be regraded?

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

But to be fair, that is a decades long-established neighbourhood that btw, has seen its share of disruption over the years (Allen Rd.). And, while maybe not a major destination in and of itself, Cedarvale will still see tons of folks as a transfer node to nearby destinations from Yorkdale and...
