    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

To summarize what others have said, they are a significant element in Toronto's culture. You seem to be seeing them just as engineering or infrastructure. What an impoverished understanding.

    Eglinton West LRT | Metrolinx

That would defeat the purpose of planning the line the way they did, a no transfer ride across the city. A transfer is an atrocity against the human rights of anyone west of Yonge.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

Just idiotically saying there are no arguments against grade separation does not make the cost arguments disappear. Doug Ford is largely throwing around imaginary money that may well disappear when it comes time to actually spend.

    Gardiner Expressway Hybrid Design

The change in the road is really only east of Cherry, not Parliament. The ramps will split off there and as a result there will be less elevated roadway in the section leading towards the river. But I was referring to the eight-lane monster that runs between Jarvis and Cherry. That is...

    Gardiner Expressway Hybrid Design

This picture reveals something sad. The rebuild of the structure could have involved knocking down half of the roadway and reconfiguring it as 4 lanes with a better Lake Shore below. But no, every lane is sacred.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

A footnote regarding the Alstom Trillium vehicles; they were a poor choice. They have fewer doors than the Talents to service the same number of passengers. The whole update from a few years back was badly botched, with most of the tens of millions of dollars wasted. Service capacity in the...

Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design)

I think that Jones Jog has more to do with getting elevated far enough ahead of Gerrard to build a station. If they do want to build on both sides of the corridor, that would be very hard to do from Pape. But all of these curves and a deep tunnel under houses are at risk of nullifying all of the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The Gardenier? Is that a French horticulturist in England?

    Crosstown LRT | Metrolinx

I wonder if people who only use the underground portion will think of it as a subway, while those using the at grade section see it as an LRT.

Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design)

I predicted this on July 24, but I guessed 60 trains per hour. Not too far off. I lived on DeGrassi for a while in the 80s and can still remember how the GO trains brought life to a stop for a few seconds now and then. But not 80 times an hour.

TTC: Scarborough Subway Extension (formerly LRT replacement) (City of Toronto, Design Phase)

I wonder if they are thinking of building the subway on either side of the railway with shared "cross-platform transfer" platforms at Lawrence, as they are contemplating with the Ontario Line. I thought about that a few years ago and figured, Naw, too weird.

Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design)

If we think there will be complaining at the north end of this plan, wait until folks in South Riverdale see some sketches. Not only will they have to put up with a doubling of GO trains whizzing by about 30 meters from their bedrooms over the next few years, they'll also get 3 years of heavy...

Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design)

While some things in the new path look doable (lots of interesting questions and issues though) what no longer makes much sense is the Queen routing through downtown. Going all the way south to the railway at both the Don and the Exhibition and then swerving half a mile north under Queen with 4...

    ORCA Project (Bathurst-Spadina Rail Deck Development) | ?m | ?s | Sweeny &Co

Toronto is big enough for an imaginary, unfunded park AND a storybook, sans-le-sou surface subway.

    Toronto | Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Nice. Pictures of buses in the segregated transit lanes. Realistic.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

Still doing it in LA and few other places. Works fine. I recently road the Hong Kong system, and the wide-open cars work much better in that environment than low floor would.

    Ottawa Transit Developments

It's not the LRT-ness of the Ottawa line that is odd, it's the low-floorness. A high-floor system would have been more efficient.

Ontario Line (was Relief Line South, in Design)

Not necessarily lying, just telling "his truth" in a Ford way, in which actual facts in the real world are irrelevant. I think the whole idea of the routing of the Fordtario Line west of Spadina was extraanally downloaded more as a marketing stunt than a transportation solution. If you look in...

    GO Transit Electrification (Metrolinx, Proposed)

Yes, but more like 10 minutes from Spadina to University.
