    Toronto Q Tower | 197.4m | 59s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

A question: are developers required to designate and put in or arrange for spaces for charging stations for electrical vehicles? There are three EV stations in our building and they are busy. My guess is that they will become even more widely needed.

Early evening over Lake Shore Blvd West in Mimico. I think the shot may be of interest simply as a depiction of this part of Etobicoke in the evening but a detail in the shot may be of some further interest. This is not intended to initiate a discussion of world events. The Ukrainian consulate...

    Toronto Vita on the Lake | 177.08m | 53s | Mattamy Homes | Graziani + Corazza

Vita on the Lake. I like the simplicity of the design of the tower. Tastes differ, of course. Re occupancy: there are lights on in the evening on the bottom half or two thirds of the building, but not higher up.

With the quick melt, there is a considerable ice jam in the mouth of Mimico Creek and I would not be surprised if that were true elsewhere also. The water level in the creek is rising upstream as a result. Lake Shore Blvd seems well above the rising waters but there is a low point on the road...

A UT amateur photographer at work. Swans coming in for a landing at Humber Bay Shores.

    Toronto Wildlife

There is a considerable ”bevy” of swans wintering in Humber Bay Park. I’ve seen as many as 21 at a time. Most of them appear to me to be Mute Swans which are a flourishing import from Europe. I am no expert birder, but I understand they are easy to recognize by the prominent black knob on the...

New ice forming at Mimico Creek. The waterfowl don’t look as if they are enjoying it.

Skaters on Mimico Creek Eau du Soleil Vita appears to be finished. I think the reflection is from CIBC Square Time to get home for a cup of hot tea. Mon pays…c’est l’hiver

    Toronto Sugar Wharf Condominiums (Phase 2) | 283.6m | 85s | Menkes | a—A

FWIW, there is a school moving into the podium of Eau du Soleil although it is a private rather than a public school. It is scheduled to open next Fall so it will be open well ahead of the proposed Sugar Wharf school.

    Toronto 30 Scollard | 229.6m | 63s | Constantine | CAL

I don’t normally invest much in the way of attachment to early renders but I very much hope that this one gets built.

    Toronto Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

As is the case with neighbouring Aura, the top is better than the bottom, or to be more exact with this one, the lower midsection. The angled top section offers some variation from the plethora of boxes in the general area, a plus in my mind. But the transition between the rectangular lower...

Seven swans a swimming (with their heads tucked into their feathers for warmth) Six divers diving (Brrrrr!) Fifteen skaters skating (more or less) and no Lords a leaping anywhere in sight

I know that this is not a popular position here, but light pollution is a real and serious ecological problem. We do need to address it.

Two towers, late afternoon of a winter’s day.

    Toronto Q Tower | 197.4m | 59s | Lifetime | Wallman Architects

I can imagine sitting in that little park sipping my coffee, listening to the vehicles grind their gears as they inch along the Gardiner in morning rush hour. And that wonderful, evocative odour from up there on the Gardiner! I love the smell of petroleum products in the morning.

    Toronto Cumberland Square | 253.92m | 75s | KingSett Capital | Giannone Petricone

An aside on that (to me) odd descriptor “pedestrian.” This is not meant to be a put down of anyone who uses it. I know what users mean by it and often agree. But to me and I suspect to many of us, a place or streetscape which is pleasant and welcoming to walk around, or in one word pedestrian...

    Toronto 45 The Esplanade | 130.85m | 39s | Republic | Arcadis

I am always willing to be instructed. What would you say it is imitating? In any case, I like the arcade.
