GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think to have zero impact on CN you have to shorten the train to Malton, no?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It is an additional train......but as Shon Tron says, I think you will see one of the other trains shortened so that it does not go all the way to Kitchener. If this was an increase to 6 from 5 in Kitchener, I am reasonably sure the message today would be touting a "further 20% increase in...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

it does not narrow to 2 lanes NB until after Bovaird.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

. If you want to call me a liar....just go ahead and do it...no need to fancy up the words. ;) My drive home, most days, leaving the office between 6:30 and 7:30 is 5 - 10 minutes longer than the pre-construction commute times with the same variables. The morning commute is roughly the same...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

On most days the only way I can replicate my pre-construction trip times to home (around Bovaird and Kennedy) is to get off the 410 at Derry and take Kennedy north to home. If I stay on the highway I am 5 - 10 minutes longer than I was previously. The sad thing is that I typically don't leave...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

This is true but the main cause of the bottleneck is the reduction (yes reduction) in the number of through lanes for the majority of the users (single occupancy commuters) from 3 lanes to 2. Prior to the "expansion" everyone had a 3 lane road from the 401 north to Bovaird (where it narrowed to...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

^isn’t the old Kodak building the station building?

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The train now takes 3:16......let’s be really kind and say the Buffalo to NF, Ontario part takes 14 minutes to give us a travel time of 3:30 to Union.....then 40 minutes on the subway to Vaughan.......4 hours and 10 minutes is a “commute”?

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

That is kinda my point .....if “this” is all day - two way - 7 day GO train service on the Kitchener GO line.....we aren’t doing “this” without a) access to the Bramalea station b) agreement to run those trains between Bramalea and Georgetown I genarally agree with the holistic approach to...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Yep...got it wrong! Cost of the terminal was around $30MM and the $15MM that SC paid was on top of that to build the tunnel........so they end up paying about 1/3 of the cost.

    Brampton Transit/Zum

who funds the province? you are not creating new money by shifting the costs of things to different levels of government funded by the same taxpayer(s).

    Brampton Transit/Zum

this is one place where that tired old saying "there is only one taxpayer" is actually applicable. If providing TransHelp type service in Brampton costs $10......then that $10 coming out of the pocket of Brampton taxpayers would still get notionally deducted from total $100 (carrying on with...

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

paid about 1/2 of the cost....if I recall correctly.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

maybe....but, today, I was commenting on the other comments about the piecemeal nature of the 4th track expansion...and that started long before this new world of CN agreeing to things (or so we have been told)....and I was saying (as I have before) since everything is gonna plug up at Bramalea...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

The only difference in Peel is if the budget for Transit is $100 then BT gets $90 because there is a need to fund a separate body for wheel trans. Having separate agencies doesn't just magically increase the amount of money.

still not getting it but my mind may just be foggy from my mini-vacation ;)

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

As I have said before, the piecemeal nature of this causes me no concern at all. Until they can get agreement with CN to let more track/trains into Bramlea....and run more trains between Bramalea and Georgetown.....adding the 4th track will have minimal impact on the service levels to the...

    Brampton Transit/Zum

I don't understand why you think this is why this impacts how many people ride the bus in Brampton?
  19. T

    Brampton Transit/Zum

yes....but that is the point....it is not about how much you spend but how well you spend. There is nothing really sexy about the amount of money Brampton has spent on Transit.....but by making the investments in buses and drivers they can offer the sort of frequencies that drive ridership.
  20. T

    Brampton Transit/Zum

that may be true of some agencies (I don't know) but I do see other places spending money on, even, greater levels than Brampton.....but the "cool" spend on infrastructure as opposed to frequencies does not seem to have as big of an impact.
