Yes, agreed! But I think Taste is controlled by the https://greektowntoronto.com and only goes from Jones to Chester. I could be wrong.

Not ALL the locals hate it. Just those unfortunate enough to live within three blocks of it. But they should have considered that when paying $1M++ for their semis. The Danforth -- and that includes the Taste of the Danforth -- helped make their neighbourhood the hot property that it is. This...

Hah. Thanks. I guess. I even saw Jimi Hendrix live on April 2, 1968 in Montreal! So I am "experienced." As for the Palace, the bones of the place are still there. It's very obvious when you go to to an upper floor and look at the atrium. . The med building has incorporated the building...

Thanks for the link! I love this stuff. When the Odeon became Oxygen Fitness c. 2000 (?) it was very clearly a theatre. I joined in 2005 and used to do a ball workout on the former stage. I remember that it was owned by four brothers (two families, two and two) who were suddenly kicked out...

    Condo-sized/compact washer/dryer options

In July 2015, I bought a stackable (2 pieces) Whirlpool W/D that fit into a closet. It was the only decent combo I could find that would fit. It's very basic but works great even for the most delicate dedicates (I don't put those in the dryer.) I use it a lot but I only wash a few items at a...

I love Portuguese chicken. That place sucked. So greasy. I wish we had one of those west side spots here.

I hope V Nails stays alive. It's the best nail place around, small, clean, non-chemical smelly. The massage chairs could be in better condition but I am happy otherwise with this place and look forward to going again. As for the McD's, I am sorry to see that "historic" building go. Wasn't that...

We posted at the same time. I think the bit about fire truck access went past me.

ETA: In reply to adHominem Oh please. They aren't putting up public housing but will be overpriced glass boxes and a few luxury towns. It's not about NIMBYism. It's about a genuine concern for a landslide right onto the Bloor/Danforth on'off access road from the DVP. That plus the...

This just breaks my heart. I suppose it's only a matter of time before the chains move in, although the spaces are too small for the larger ones. (The Keg, Montana Joe's, etc.) I don't think the Danforth will ever be the village it used to be, with store owners who lived in the hood

Well, the site is in the Jackman School district so ... ya know?

That 10M had to do with the TRCA boundary. Now, under Ford, I assume nothing is sacred.

Now it's just an ugly empty lot. Thanks foreign investors! Given the traffic and other concerns, I doubt this will be developed for years, if not decades

I think that, assuming care for the ravine below and other environmental concerns, this is the best possible outcome. This is a prime location with excellent transit, walking and biking scores, in an established neighbourhood, with TREES! and even wildlife... I don't know what makes more sense...

What happens when condo building is getting too old?

I am pretty sure that, by the time a condo gets old enough to be torn down, the land will have appreciated like crazy and so the owners basically split the revenue on the sale of the land. That's what I was told, anyway.

Which is when the demand for single family homes started surging, no?
