    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

So I'm catching up after 2 weeks of vacation. I just have to say that I'm shocked anyone can still defend the current UPX pricing model. At a time of aggressive promotion with BOGO coupons, staff everywhere in Pearson, and the removal of fares for children, the total ridership has still...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I was in Istanbul on vacation recently and quite enjoyed both the Flexity variant as well as their new replacement/additional models from Alstom X-04's. I'm not sure what really motivated them switching models but the Bombardier ones were perfectly nice. I also have to comment on just how much...

    Toronto Pearson International Airport

Wow that's great to see the departure signs updated. I've always felt like Toronto was particularly uninformative/uninviting when you arrived at Pearson and wanted to take transit.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Do any TTC platforms have heated shelters/platforms?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Let's hope the fare inspectors are aware of the location issues. Unless of course your Presto card was quantum mechanically entangled with a reader on a streetcar on the other side of Toronto, it's a bit impossible.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I think you're on to something...the last few delivery spacings have been 20, 44, 27, 19, 15, and around 3 or 4 days. (4416 had a bit of an ambiguous delivery date.) We're at at least 27 days since the last delivery right now, which is bigger than all but one of the last 6 gaps. It's even...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Coming from abroad, I have to say, I find it regularly hilarious that the only North-South subway lines in the downtown were built were built about 600 meters away from each other. Without some weird historical Toronto perspective, transit here is generally rather baffling.

    Taxis and ride-sharing in Toronto

A semi-development: Uber gets a taxi brokerage license... http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2016/01/22/uber-gets-a-taxi-brokerage-license.html Doesn't seem to have any bearing on ongoing UberX dispute.

Toronto GO Transit: Davenport Diamond Grade Separation | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think you're right. Had this been a less-rushed and more consultative process, the community might have been if not more supportive, at least less opposed.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we're around 22 days since the last streetcar was delivered...it was a bit foggy around the holiday but was delivered between Dec. 29th-Dec. 31st.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Curiouser and curiouser. I'm more than a little baffled by this situation. That is a very expensive and long subway run. If we can only afford 1 stop of subway, why not go back to the original LRT plan anyway? Would we even be able to get rid of the SRT with this plan?

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

From the most recent TTC CEO's Report: http://ttc.ca/About_the_TTC/Commission_reports_and_information/Commission_meetings/2016/January_21/Reports/CEO_Report_%20January_2016_Update.pdf I don't know when exactly the "stop" he refers to occurred.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

As LNahid points out, that is precisely incorrect. I know you're terrified of/for bikers, but get the facts straight.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

This is exactly what Market Street in San Francisco did. Through-traffic is not allowed except for buses/streetcars/taxis. They built some great dedicated bike infrastructure as well. There's a parallel street (Mission) that's far better for through automobile traffic. They've also added...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Just saw the link from Steve Munro's site to streetcar fleet planning for the year: https://swanboatsteve.files.wordpress.com/2016/01/streetcarfleetplan_201601.pdf This lays out the revised schedule per line per year. They also finally updated the TTC's own webpage for the roll-out. It was...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Two officers checking one fare during a 20 minute period is not what I could ideal performance. I'm not saying they needed to check every passenger on the train, but they're not making their salary back at this rate.

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

In theory! Also, on average. In reality, when I used to live near Church Street and walked along College, I would regularly beat the College Streetcar between St. George and Church.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

About 6 months ago, I had to run an errand up that way. I had never been in the area, but was absolutely shocked to find them tunneling a subway through a region of that density. Whether it should have been a subway is debatable. It seems way harder to justify the tunneling method used.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I actually had my pass checked for the first time ever riding the TTC this weekend. I was the only one to get on the back doors during this time, and thus I was the only one they checked in a 15 minute period. At this rate, checking my pass must have cost at least $50. The officers were...
