it's the downtown political echo chamber (sponsored by the Toronto Star)

    407 Transitway

it's actually 40% owned by all of us (via the CPPIB) and 16.77% owned by SNC Lavalin. So primarily owned by Canadians

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

Just like BBD the folly is to force a company to open up a new plant to build anything. BYD has built thousands of electric buses and have a process that works in Shenzhen. And yet we insist on Buy America/Buy Ontario clauses that mean we are going with an untested assembly process. A new...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Just like any contract they nail you for any post-singing changes. If you ask for a quote on the Taj Mahal they will give you the Taj Mahal at the quoted rate. But if you quote for a warehouse and then change the specs as you go along to eventually get the Taj Mahal it'll cost you. I was...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Ummm...cyclists do kill pedestrians. And I have been hit by a cyclist as a pedestrian. So yes. they are very much a hazard to pedestrians. And if you don't think a cyclist is a hazard than I hope that I am not walking near you when you are biking.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It will also increase the speed on egress and ingress at each station. Which means trains can be quicker. And hence the capacity of the line increases. If you to to stations throughout Asia there are arrows on the floor where to stand to enter vs exit the train. And CSR's to encourage you to...

TTC: Automatic Train Control and Subway Platform Screen Doors

It's such a crucial project. Senior management did not get weekly updates on the progress? And yet the study will take until the end of 2018? At some points more heads need to roll. I have seen organizations where there was no accountability and a new CEO basically fired a senior level...

    2018 Provincial Election Transit Promises

I think it also goes back to the basics. The province will run, build and maintain cross-border transport and the cities will run, build and maintain intra-city transport. If the electorate know who to blame for not building a new line we can now kick the correct person out of office. In the...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Double the cost so it had to be one over the other. This thread's title gives us a clue. It can be called Phase 1 of bringing back the train to North Bay. It will be a couple of years to negotiate the running rights, buy the right rolling stock, etc to get the train rolling. But the PC's...

    Toronto YZD | ?m | ?s | Northcrest Developments | KPMB

But a question is what is a better street network. Should there be major roads through this potentially new neigbourhood? Or around it and the center roads can be focused on the people that live/work there. Beyond the PSPIB lands there is a lot of brownfield land which remained as such due to...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

For those that are interested here are a couple of links for bridge status on the Welland Canal. So everyone can understand how busy the canal is when the Seaway is not frozen over http://www.greatlakes-seaway.com/R2/jsp/R2.jsp?language=E&loc=NiaBrdgStatus.jsp...

High Speed Rail: London - Kitchener-Waterloo - Pearson Airport - Toronto

You mean a line drawn on a map just before the 2014 election is "generations to get to this stage"? The Libs put up a photo op and were creating EA's to (1) justify that this photo op had the right line and (2) delay it so they didn't have to pay for it.

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

If the bus is early there is the 18:26 bus from Allendale but on long weekends I would not count on it. Overall a very expensive trip to North Bay unless there is a bus driver with a camp/cottage nearby (to avoid driving an empty bus back on Friday night and then up to North Bay on Monday)

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I saw a few construction workers walking over the glass without any concern about the weight. So there will be some idiots but it appears as if it was built to withstand them

    2018 Provincial Election Transit Promises

Doug Ford does not live at Islington and Bloor (and yes, I know almost to the block the location of his house). If you do not know where he live do not pretend to and if you do please do not spread disinformation. From his house it will take exactly 1 hour via transit to Queens Park. From...

    2018 Provincial Election Transit Promises

The previous post that I replied to stated that Doug Ford would not "wallow with the masses". My question then specifically asked if other Premiers did. So it is very relevant. Good attempt at changing the channel though. Wynne is fortunate to live in an area very well served by transit and...

    2018 Provincial Election Transit Promises

Did Kathleen Wynne or Dalton McGuinty take transit to Queens Park? How many MPP's did? I only know of one (MPP from Brant taking the GO in for the first day)
