There was a collision between a CN train and an EXO train, Montreal's commuter service, a couple of weeks ago(Nov 21st) on the Mascouche line. I'm surprised this wasn't posted on here, or perhaps it was but elsewhere...
They probably will more pics of the interior post-flames;
While the interior will need to be gutted I'm sure the structural integrity of the car is just fine. I suppose it's simply a question of how much it will cost to replace everything, probably still cheaper than a new car.
Yup not looking good, possibly a total loss depending on the extent of the fire and water damage to the electrical/pneumatics. In the very least the entire interior will have to be gutted.
And finally jump back ahead of Philadelphia, Atlanta, San Francisco, Houston and LA in 'the Great North American race for the sky'. It's annoying how these smug little cities thought that they could stay ahead of us in that regard. 😒
Very true, I suppose they were probably referring to the transition from the USRC to the other subs the coordination for which would have to go through servers to connect the broader network from the locally dispatched USRC. In the least it's worded poorly, has nothing to do with some wireless...
"...Abecassis said. GO and Via Rail trains need to connect to CN’s servers to navigate safely in and out of Union Station."
This part is pure and utter BS. In CTC and the USRC interlocking which operates under the same pretense, trains are able to move from one block through to another strictly...
I can see how that makes sense on a freight considering how long they can be and how slow they usually transverse over an HBD, but not really for a GO or VIA which will take 20 seconds or less to go over a box. The engineer is preparing to or making his brake application for the station that's...
