Is this the first we're hearing of it?

    Toronto St Lawrence Centre Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | CreateTO | Hariri Pontarini

It's in some ways unfortunate Toronto 'came of age' when it did. If those St. Lawrence buildings were repurposed I think we'd have a historic district that would rival anything in North America. As for the winning submission, I'm happy with it. Overall should really enhance the area.

I prefer most of that area's predecessors to what replaced them.

    Rexdale Plaza

Thank you for sharing all of this. So much nostalgia.

    Nordstrom

This doesn't surprise me. I initially found the stores interesting to walk through (out of curiosity), but I never found the selection very compelling.

They all have merit, though I can't say any of them blow me away. Hariri Pontarini is probably the winner for me, with Brook McIlroy 2nd. The Diamond & Schmitt proposal does intrigue me, even though it doesn't relate well to the original building.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I'm all for an extension to the Zoo/Rogue Park. If we're already doing it, why not?

Why should we assume they have?

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but this seems to be the right opportunity to spend what's necessary to save these trees and replant them at the very least. The fact they're just being destroyed is unacceptable. It's unbelievable the amount of money that's spent on other projects to...

    Toronto 34 Maitland | 183m | 56s | Hazelview | Turner Fleischer

Is that really the case though? Boston certainly has its share of questionable architecture, but I found there to be a sense of place and respect for history that doesn't exist to anywhere near the same degree in Toronto.

    Toronto 34 Maitland | 183m | 56s | Hazelview | Turner Fleischer

Is there any other city where they drop giant towers on top of old heritage buildings to the degree that Toronto does? These two buildings should be left alone.

The tweet he responded to pertained to the western portion of the OL. If this was going to replace the streetcar, then it needs more than a few stops along King and Queen. Would've needed to go much further west along Queen.

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

The original response I was providing pertained to an LRT along Queensway. That's what I've been referring to.

Is he? Is this corridor most in need of transit improvement? I don't think it should be an either-or scenario, but unfortunately that's what often happens when it comes to transit plans.

I don't believe he's suggesting that the streetcar means the OL isn't needed, but rather that the money might be better spent elsewhere.

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

Transfer to go one stop? Where exactly would this be happening on a Queensway LRT?

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

It's not low speed. We need to build transit that suits the built form instead of spending billions trying to convince people to use it.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Part of Ford's rationale for taking over transit construction is that they could do things more efficiently, more affordably, and faster. It's quite clear there is money available. I just can't accept that implementing the previous plan would mean the end of meaningful transit expansion...

    Toronto Theatre District Residence & Riu Plaza Hotel | 156.05m | 49s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

I wish they'd made the entire building brick.

That's because the priority was adding capacity to the subway system and relieving the Yonge Line. I don't understand this reasoning. How is the OL happening? There was nothing stopping Ford from proceeding immediately with the RL and starting the RL North.
