GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Yes! Thank you! Thank you! Exactly what I've been arguing for years on this forum. There are people on this forum that would be content to see stop spacing for the GO trains equivalent to a downtown streetcar because they can't say "No" to any station proposal. In their minds every proposed...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Mississauga is looking at constructing a BRT along Lakeshore that will connect with both Long Branch and Port Credit. So this new station is definitely not needed.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Hypothetical question, but if there is a collision with a vehicle at the at-grade portion of the line, does that mean the entire underground and grade separated stretches of the central and western portions of the line have to halt operations?

    VIA Rail

Disappointing to hear that while VIA's profits were up, it's operating costs were as well. Also that basically every rider is subsidised by the tax payers. The video states, more than once, that VIA rail is a public service and therefore doesn't need to generate a profit. While that may be...

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

I was simply using peaches as an example. I don't know what's the current state of Ontario peaches. I saw a fair amount at my local grocery this year. I'm pretty sure the land around Beamsville is protected fruit land. I'm the same. I pretty much only buy peaches when they're in season in...

Bradford Bypass (MTO, Hwy 400 - Hwy 404)

I've always thought left wing politicians in Ontario should change the narrative around combatting sprawl to be less about "fighting climate change" and more about "food security" and protecting farm land from development. "Food security" resonates with more people, even those who aren't...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

It's going to be a repeat of the New Year's debacle.

    VIA Rail

Even if VIA were to win this lawsuit and force CN to reverse their demand for VIA trains to slow down at grade crossings, CN will simply figure out another way to "stick it" to VIA.

    Montréal Transit Developments

The whole situation with the tunnel is so dismal. You think if Quebec had held off on the REM maybe they could have looked at upgrading the Duex-Montagnes line to something like the electric Caltrain.

Sooo... the EXO lines won't be cut? I'm not familiar with Quebec politics.

    Montréal Transit Developments

Article title is somewhat misleading. The article is discussing what was already discussed earlier about 3 of the commuter lines potentially being cut to save costs.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

What's CPKC's subdivision called for where the proposed midtown line is suppose to run? Looking at the track parallel to Dupont St. It looks as if at one point CPKC had started construction on a third track on the south side, but never got around to completing it. Any particular reason why? Was...

    Train Spotting

Such a great photo! Hopefully, one day, we'll see GO trains running along this track.

TTC: Scarborough Busway Construction (portion of the former Scarborough RT route)

My argument is about "stop spacing", and how Toronto residents want to hijack the GO train and turn it into a quasi subway and have stations less than 1km apart. Negatively impacting the people who live further away and extending their trips, making the GO train less viable compared to driving...

TTC: Scarborough Busway Construction (portion of the former Scarborough RT route)

No! Stop adding stops on GO lines. Just have people get off at Kennedy and take the busway if this is your suggestion. No where on the proposed busway warrants a GO station. It's all low density, industrial zones better served by a busway.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

So? People in wheel chairs can still access the C-train. Ramp height seems to be the only advantage low floor has over high floor. Name another advantage of low floor. No it's not. The low floor trains have higher maintenance costs. Fixed bogies vs the more conventional bogies on a high floor...

TR/T1 are TTC gauge so they definitely wouldn't fit. But if the Hitachi trains for the Ontario line are standard gauge, then maybe at some point in the future we could upgrade the Eglington line to the same specs as the Ontario line?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Nothing wrong with LRTs. The fad was low floor LRT's. There was nothing wrong with the normal, high floor LRT's. The C-Train in Calgary is a beauty. But some politicians and urban planners in Canada insisted that they be closer to the ground so as to look more like a tram and make our cities...

    Hamilton Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Or we could just revert back to constructing the 403 bridge.
