It is a really interesting structure, but looking a bit tired now. It could use a wee refresh. I'm surprised no one has suggested adding murals to all those blank concrete walls, though I'm not sure how I'd feel about it if they did.
Not gonna lie, I'm a little bit sad the Keating Channel Pub will likely bite the dust. I really love their back patio and quiet mini boardwalk along the channel. It's pretty easy to find something for everyone on the menu too (at not terrible prices!). Even if they put new restaurants in...
The original Samosarie is in the east end so you don't need to go as far as the Well to try them. The colours denote the flavours as they are non-traditional/fusion. The ones I've tried have all been good and they have a 4.8 rating on Google maps. https://maps.app.goo.gl/gkDuVPzWRjZtfLoAA
Apparently, the idea it would be demolished is not an entirely new one. Here's a screenshot from someone's review of the building on Google Maps from 5 years back:
Good points. While they're doing a complete overhaul, they actually seem to have missed the most important thing to fix, too - Pape TTC station itself (probably out of scope, but still). Absolutely the worst flow of any station I've ever been in ever.
I like the benches set across from each other. I saw a lot of that in Montreal and I think it'll encourages people to linger over conversation on the street which will, in turn, lead to a more convivial atmosphere.
I think it'd be neat if they could come up with some way to better utilize the outside of the Cinesphere as much as the inside. Maybe not quite like Las Vegas's "Sphere", (I'd prefer something unique), but something.
