    Woodbine Centre

I'm just thankful that we even have a movie theatre that plays Hollywood flicks In Rexdale at the moment. Still baffled as to how Woodbine opened a theatre in it's current standing.

I went to buy a simple black dress shirt for work. I forgot The Bay caters to people that don't need to work, as the price of the shirt was $79.99 at the STC location. Cutting my losses, I ended up going to Maximum Deals in Mississauga. Picked up a similar shirt, brand new - for $5. I also...

    Toronto 330 Queens Plate | ?m | ?s | Choice Properties

Not to mention, the open fields and warehouses already in the area would pose a problem as well. It's a shame the parking lot in front of the now-defunct Canadian Tire on Kipling and Rexdale wasn't larger. With all of the other renovation plans in the area, that site would be ideal for...

    Toronto 330 Queens Plate | ?m | ?s | Choice Properties

The development of this partition of Queen's Plate took me by surprise. Specifically, with the recent installation of the LCBO. Fortino's and the nearby strip plaza seemed to offer the very stores the Woodbine Centre had failed to provide for the last 20 years. Upon first glance, I figured more...

    Woodbine Centre

Strangely, I feel the same way. The empty mall feels like a museum. A barely-populated, 100 million dollar museum, serving as an example of a once-great shopping mall now turned to ruin. As much as I've taken shots at the mall, I keep finding myself returning. It's an abusive relationship that I...

So is the mall. Anyone else for a cup of coffee?

    Rexdale

A reunion 20 years in the making: The Canadian Tire Gas pump at Martin Grove and Albion rd. has been converted back into an Esso Gas station. I'll give everyone a moment to contain themselves. On a related note: as of August 9th, the longstanding Canadian Tire on Kipling and Rexdale Blvd. has...

    Rexdale Plaza

Might as well bring up the latest news in regards to Rexdale Mall's future here as well: https://renx.ca/rexdale-mall-toronto-receivership-for-sale?fbclid=IwAR2fLjTRi-h124hhCYOfrpg9O9q42y3IAA2IiDK3mgYFRcCje7GdHEJc2pg Certain sites list Rexdale Mall as part of the 'SmartCentres Rexdale', which...

I would assume so. Our end-of-summer estimation for Woodbine's closure may be curtailed. Any sales will have to receive approval from the court before doing so.

    Woodbine Centre

An era of liquidation is coming to an end. In recent news, the Rexdale Mall (also owned by the Woodbine Centre's current owner Chris Hinn) is now for sale in a receivership process of it's own...

The grey tiles give off a nice prison motif. When they're finished painting the theatre's hallway, they can paint customers into the empty store stalls throughout the rest of the mall. Sorry. I didn't have my coffee yet.

    Rexdale Plaza

Rexdale Mall became dated as soon as Albion Mall installed a movie theatre in the mid 60's. Then a food court in the late 90's. While other malls in the area continued to grow, the aging Rexdale mall just couldn't keep up. Random mall memory: when my brother and I were about six years old, we...

    Rexdale Plaza

Underground parking was added to the Rexdale Mall during the mall's enclosure in 1972. Towers was added as an extension during the mall's renovations, with Dominion sitting as an anchor at the opposite end of the mall. With Dominion, a 'space-age' conveyor belt system brought groceries down to...

    Woodbine Centre

So, it looks like a developer wants to turn the Woodbine into condos then? Sounds practical. The selling point would be living next door to the Racetrack (sorry, Ascott Co-op Housing).

    Woodbine Centre

Seeing movies at the Woodbine Centre holds a special place in my childhood. Most of which were seen with my father, who just passed away last month. Like so many providers, my dad was a workaholic. The few times that my brother and I got to see my father usually involved a weekend movie at...

Is CineStarz taking over the old cinema spot on the lower level? I ask because I was was at Woodbine two days ago, and didn't notice much difference. Woodbine Cinemas is still sealed up. Though, the unsightly holes in the wall where the movie previews used to be are now covered and painted over...

The last time Amazon's proceedings were brought up in this thread, the retail giant supposedly backed out of their proposition plans following warehouse cuts during the pandemic.

    Woodbine Centre

I've read that most of the stores operated by the Woodbine owner just shuffle around the same employees. Having CineStarz offer job opportunities to applicants outside of the owner's circle of liquidations, gives me a glimmer of hope for the Woodbine's future. As Woodbine's unofficial new...

    Woodbine Centre

Design-wise, it appears that the owner was aiming for a low-budget art aesthetic. Something simple to make the Woodbine look more classy to shoppers. The problem is, the Woodbine Centre (and Rexdale neighbourhood in general) was never known for its vibrant art scene. The geometric vinyl wraps...

    Woodbine Centre

CineStarz would be a step in the right direction for the mall. The liquidation outlets need to be replaced as quickly as possible. Hopefully, the current owner has been swapped out with a retainer by now. Someone retailers can trust again.to consider setting up shop in the Woodbine.
