    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

Sure, but that's not what I'm referring to. I'm referring to the strips of white, grey and teal that are interspersed throughout the windows of all three buildings I posted above. They just seem like architectural, not structural elements and I'm saying that I feel they are a cheap cop-out...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

^Perhaps, but I don't think the infrequency and randomness of their placement would indicate structural properties being hidden behind them. And besides, countless other new buildings (Bay Adelaide, Four Seasons, RBC Centre) are able to have wrap around glass windows without any coloured panels...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

No, not the lines between the panes, I understand the glass has to be secured somehow... I'm talking about those grey, opaque strips that are randomly tossed in along with the transparent glass windows. I don't believe you can see through them and I think the cheap tossing-in of coloured glass...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

"insufferable"? calm yourself my friend... I posted two posts, which you apparently didn't completely understand. In the picture of Schulich, what are those glazed panels of glass and why the hell are they included in the design? All they do is cheapen the exterior. Architecture used to...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

^ They may be, but I'm pretty sure those are part of the design. Here's what I was talking about on Trump. It seems they've used teal accents in between the windows. I don't get it... why do that? It looks so basic and obvious to me.

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

God I hate steel spandrels... and what's with these strips of coloured glass in between the windows? Are those strips on the Aura windows turquoise? This cheap and lame technique seems to be popping up everywhere... What is the technical name for these? It just screams uncreativity and...

    Toronto Living Shangri-La Toronto | 214.57m | 66s | Westbank | James Cheng

As much as I do like this tower, "Sterile" is a word that comes to mind when looking at it. There's only so much character that can be made with glass and steel. Does it not feel a little cold walking by this tower at street level, compared to say The Royal York or The King Edward? The shot...

Toronto St Regis Toronto Hotel and Residences | 281.93m | 58s | JFC Capital | Zeidler

Living in Trump with northerly facing windows, you won't have much privacy unless you have all of your blinds drawn... You are literally looking 15 feet across the street, right into an office building full of people, and they're looking right back at you... I'm surprised that people even bought...

    Toronto Market Wharf | 110.33m | 33s | Context Development | a—A

There should be a law that all podiums, or the first five-ten floors of any new project, be clad in materials other than steel and/or concrete. Brick, Limestone or Granite should be standard. I'm tired of walking by new buildings (Ritz, Lumiere) and having it feel like they are made out of...

    Toronto Ïce Condominiums at York Centre | 234.07m | 67s | Lanterra | a—A

I guess we'll have to wait and see.... at this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they cheap out and forget the roof element all together. You could replace the Swiss cheese roofs with two, giant, fifty-foot Penis Sculptures and those too, would give them identity, not to mention a memorable...

    Toronto Ïce Condominiums at York Centre | 234.07m | 67s | Lanterra | a—A

Are they still planning on those Swiss cheese roof panels? I hope not; they look ridiculous as is, but with a spot front and centre in the skyline, I fear that it will add a new dimension of tackiness that Toronto, while working steadily towards it with the repugnant buildings from the past...

    Toronto M5V Condominiums | 118.87m | 35s | Lifetime | Core Architects

Jesus... all these new buildings (e.g. Burano) look like they are scaled-up Play Mobil trinket toys. This piecemeal cladding with cheap materials is a plague, and Toronto will be regretting allowing such stale, sterile and cheap materials which cover the majority of buildings built from 1999 on...

    Toronto Southcore Financial Centre & Delta Toronto | 159.71m | 45s | GWL | KPMB

This is what passes for architecture these days? Jesus Christ... Let me look at this picture for 30 seconds then take it away, give me a ruler, a pencil and a piece of paper and I'll copy it from memory.....

Where are those shots from? What are those two buildings on the far right with the angled roofs? Is that Mississauga?

Jesus, what is that giant monolith on the right hand side?

Yes, I do too. Where exactly will that be? Don't tell me the lobby..

Toronto Discovery at Concord Park Place | ?m | 28s | Concord Adex | BDP Quadrangle

The second picture: is that in the new Regent Park? If so, while I fully support your argument, I don't think that building - with it's nasty mechanical box exposed purposely - is a great example of aesthetically pleasing, Toronto architecture.

Toronto Discovery at Concord Park Place | ?m | 28s | Concord Adex | BDP Quadrangle

@a-kau I'm not attacking your choice of condominium, I'm just stating how horribly designed these towers are (from the outside at least). If it was in my price range and in the area I was looking in, I wouldn't say no either if it made sense, but that wouldn't stop me from cringing every time...

Toronto Discovery at Concord Park Place | ?m | 28s | Concord Adex | BDP Quadrangle

The architects/Concord Adex should be ashamed of themselves for sticking those aluminium panel-siding, box roofs on top. Not only are the buildings absurdly two-toned and right-angled monoliths of exhausted boredom, the non-matching, unaesthetic pallid boxes on top make me want to rip my hair...
