    Toronto 180 Wellington West | ?m | 12s | Stantec

Toronto's Futuristic Factory Look that has become so nauseatingly ubiquitous in this city. This "reno" is an absolute disaster. My mother used to work in 180 Wellington and hated every second of the drab and depressing building. I can't imagine this would make her feel any better had she...

    Toronto Couture The Condominium | ?m | 42s | Philmor | Graziani + Corazza

The Futuristic Factory look that has become so popular in Toronto. This building ("Couture", it is not) will be another Sheraton Centre/Robarts in a few years. Just like the futuristic feel that even those two monsters espoused back in the day, this too will eventually be reviled by...

    Toronto Couture The Condominium | ?m | 42s | Philmor | Graziani + Corazza

I don't know how many times I need to say this, but I never explicitly said that symmetry alone determines a building's worth. I was just saying that symmetry holds tried and tested value when it is used in conjunction with aesthetically pleasing, and logical design.

    Toronto Couture The Condominium | ?m | 42s | Philmor | Graziani + Corazza

Good for you. There are as many terrible architects as there are good ones, so whether you went to school and learned it is peripheral at this point. Did they teach you pretension too? Which Architecture School did you go to?

Good God. First of all, no offense, but I believe you mean "you're". I'm a linguistics major, so don't take it personally. Secondly, I never said that every building must be symmetrical for it to be worthwhile, nor did I ever say that unsymmetrical buildings are always unattractive...

I'm sorry, I'm going to have to outright disagree with you on that. Symmetry is the ultimate beauty and perfect proportion. Symmetry (from Greek συμμετρεῖν symmetreín "to measure together") has two meanings. The first is a vague sense of harmonious and beautiful proportion and...

I wish there was an autosave with these replies, because I just lost a lot of writing I had done. Essentially, buildings can still be made out of brick economically. Glass can be supplemented when needed, and there need be no concrete or corrugated steel. It's obvious that builders want to...

    Toronto Couture The Condominium | ?m | 42s | Philmor | Graziani + Corazza

Still looks better than Couture, albeit quite suburban.

If I ever become some successful billionaire/multi-millionaire, I am going to build a M-F red brick tower, smack dab in the middle of the core, or at least somewhere where it can get some exposure. ...Maybe a few blocks west of the core. It will have a dichromatic brick pattern and elegant...

    Toronto Couture The Condominium | ?m | 42s | Philmor | Graziani + Corazza

Yeah! What's with all these Play-Mobil looking buildings we're getting in Toronto? Snap-and-go plastic and steel sheeting is all I've seen recently. BRICK! Red Brick! It's tried and tested and true. It adds warmth and charm and character that grey, cold steel, concrete and glass don't...

    Toronto Couture The Condominium | ?m | 42s | Philmor | Graziani + Corazza

Good God. This has got to be one of the worst buildings in the city. Cold grey steel (What does Toronto have against black wrought-iron?) has become nauseatingly ubiquitous in this city of cheaply made buildings. This building is horrendous. It looks like something out of the 70s...

    Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

For such a tall building in such a prominent place, it is considerably underwhelming. The lack of a roof line ruins it for me...

    Glendon College's "Centre of Excellence"

Wow. Reminds me of Soviet pre-fab, and that's not a good thing for me. To each their own. I just hope they have electrical outlets here and there...

    Glendon College's "Centre of Excellence"

Fascinating, but I don't get it. Simply because they were built in a specific era, they should be heritage properties, even if the architecture is depressing at best? I know it's subjective, but I'd be surprised if many people would rather have them in eyesight than not. On another note, I'm...

    Glendon College's "Centre of Excellence"

Oh Christ. Don't tell me people are rallying to save Brutalist buildings now... The only thing perhaps that I would save, simply for antiquity, is the peacock at Robarts. That's about it... There's a reason that a stroll around the older grounds of UofT gives one a sense of serenity and...

    Glendon College's "Centre of Excellence"

I think you'd be surprised how many students choose a school, based simply off of its campus. Especially Liberal Arts majors who don't really care about the best business or medical or law school. To be honest, I went to Dalhousie because I wanted to be near the ocean and to check out the East...

    Glendon College's "Centre of Excellence"

It may look impressive, in 2012 architectural terms, but that's the whole point. They're deceiving prospective students into coming through the aesthetics of the building, not the functionality. I also feel that this boxy, sterile, glass with plastic finishes will look as dated at Brutalism...

    Glendon College's "Centre of Excellence"

After three months of me sending emails and being ignored, and hearing from multiple sources that it was marble, I've now been corrected and told that's it's glazed porcelain. It's almost as if nobody has any idea what's going on with this building. However, building the main auditorium smack...

    Glendon College's "Centre of Excellence"

"Don't wear white after labour day" is an addage for a reason. The building is already filthy. White gets dirty and stays dirty, especially in this climate where we have 5 months of winter, 2 months of spring and 2 months of fall. All of which are quite mucky. In California and Greece, they...
