    VIA Rail: New Funding

I wonder how it would be like if we privatized the entire system. Would a private operator do a better job? In Japan the railroads are privatized. Taking another page out of other countries, in some places, it's frequent that track time is subcontracted out to various companies so multiple...

That's a week after the END OF THE WORLD.

    How is "phantom rent" calculated?

Simple. The building is not finished yet. So you are being forced to pay for an unfinished place which is still being constructed. So you may not actually move in yet (it's too dusty or loud or whatever) but you are paying for it. If you are currently renting, then this means that you're paying...

Not using a buyer's agent in this market

That's not an extreme example at all. That's EXACTLY what's happened in the USA over the past decade: 1) House prices going up like mad 2) Subprime and $0 down mortgages making people who aren't supposed to be buying homes able to afford way beyond their price range. 3) Subprime mortgages...

    Downtown Markham

Downtown Markham is both a bit of a marketing term and a real thing. It was designed over 20 years between city hall and Remington. The idea is to actually create a second downtown (beyond the old city of Markham on Markham Rd). This downtown would have walkable streets, and real employment so...

    Buying New vs Resale

Perhaps we should take your advice and use another agent rather then yourself to represent us too!

    Transit City Plan

The entire Japanese train/subway system requires you to 'tap out'. In fact, they had that concept before there were RFID cards, and in most stations in Japan, you have to physically insert your magnetic ticket into a slot for the machine to read it to let you out of the station. I highly...

So its not going to work...

Aww that sucks Brandon. But don't give up! There's a lot of ways into this country. I think it's a lot easier to get a work visa to live in Canada then for us to go to the US. Just need a job to sponsor you! And then when you are here, you can meet some nice Canadian girls =)

Shops at Don Mills (redevelopment, Giannone Petricone/Pellow + Associates )

I think people are pretty aware that in the winter people still go out... I mean all you have to do is go downtown and see people really do walk around in the cold. But I guess the point of contention is that if people are driving to this mall, why wouldn't they drive somewhere warmer and...

    Markham World on Yonge | ?m | 31s | Liberty Development | Kirkor Architects

Why the heck would anyone want to build a hotel in this area? I live within walking distance of this development and I can say quite clearly there's nothing here to visit that would require a hotel, nor is this location anywhere near any major highways or transportation hubs, nor are there any...

    Simcoe St. Underpass & Extension

This scene is so calling for an Abbey Road type picture. C'mon we just need 5 forumers (4 people, 1 to take the picture)!

Roads: Montreal reduces city speed limits to 40 km/h

What they will likely do is just put new signs on roads which are currently 50 and have no signs. Then for roads which are currently 40 and have signs, they will just never replace those signs. Good way to save money if they have a lot more '40' then '50' signs.

Roads: Montreal reduces city speed limits to 40 km/h

Was just in Montreal this past weekend and was reminded yet again that even on major arteries, it's near impossible to drive anywhere even near 50 in that city of crazy drivers, crappy roads, and random construction and road closures. On the other hand, smaller residential streets, it is...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

There's not really much space to do it there. As well, it would make a really awkward turn to get by the 404 in the first place, and another weird turn to get to Leslie and Highway 7. I don't think that would work out.

    Markham Remington Centre | ?m | 33s | Remington Group | Kohn

Hard to say from the limited washed out renders. If it's anything like the Aberdeen centre in Vancouver it will be spectacular. But if it's anything closer to Pacific Mall it will be horrendous. Fairview isn't so great, just very utilitarian. The glass atrium in Yorkdale is quite spectacular...

What does "underinsured" mean in the US?

And here's the response from the Chief of Staff of Kingston General Hospital, debunking all the lies from Senator McConnell: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/RedEarth/1465 =============== Response to the Senator accusing Canada of having "staggering" wait times from Canadian...
