A look at past forecasts for Toronto

That list from TOBuilt isn't near complete... Missing massive BMO campus at Steeles and Victoria Park. Missing massive campus/tower at Steeles and Woodbine. Missing Transamerica building in NYCC. Missing a few smaller developments in NYCC as well. Not to mention a bunch of new...

The need for private mass transit in the GTA

A lot of this is due to regulation. For instance, say we allowed ANYONE to own and operate a taxi. There actually are 'underground' taxi services to the airport (I know of them within the Chinese community for instance) which are 1/2 the price than an airport limo/taxi. Or another example would...

Why do people care so much about granite counter tops?

    Corian! Yay for synthetic materials!

    G-20 Summit in Toronto

In general, these protesters do a really crappy job at whatever it is they are doing. Because all we see on the news is stuff being lit on fire, people trashing things, and people holding signs like 'corporations are evil' 'stop globalization' which are quite frankly pretty naive. Also to...

Mandarin Oriental CityCenter - Las Vegas, USA (KPF)

It would be really awesome if Toronto could have a development of this size and stature. I really like these kind of massive city-within-a-city developments which were previously only found in NYC and Tokyo.

    G-20 Summit in Toronto

Isn't this occurring during Pride Week as well? With all the leaders, media, protesters and tourists from Pride Week, Toronto is going to be jam packed that weekend! I hope the city doesn't do something stupid and decide to schedule some DVP or Gardiner summer construction as well that...

Proper Way to Look at Cost of 2 Buying Options

If you want to fully appreciate the difference between the two options, you have to ask yourself, whether or not you're willing to pay more for the convenience and happiness of owning your own place earlier vs renting for a few years. Not to mention, you never know where your life might take you...

    Toronto St. Clair West Transit Improvements | ?m | ?s | TTC

That's what I was thinking too. I'm assuming that the steel tracks have to bent at the factory and not just on the fly to fit properly. In which case this is probably planned. Just planned badly but I don't know about blaming the specific contractor.

buying pre-construction, do i have to involve current agent?

Just talk to your broker. I was in the exact same situation, and my broker was totally fine with me not involving him for my potential pre-construction purchase. Didn't even up doing it in the end though.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

How does inflating a price help a buyer afford the down payment? I don't get it, makes no sense...

It looks as if it were planned that the tracks should be twisting like that. The reason I say this is because, it does take some effort to bend streetcar tracks, and it's not like they can just randomly bend them to that look on the fly.

But enough 'herbs' to finance $1000/sq ft? :)

Toronto as a Global City? What's holding us back?

(2nd post but responding to thread topic) If Toronto is to go the next step to being a 'global city' (whatever that means), what we really need is to enter the popular imagination of the world. The best way to do this is really to create enough culture within our city, that other people will...

Toronto as a Global City? What's holding us back?

I think the biggest problem with trying to figure out if tourists really come to Toronto on this board is that... we're all FROM TORONTO. Obviously all the really interesting 'touristy' things that one can do are elsewhere. That's because we live here, so all the touristy things in Toronto...

X2 Condos (Great Gulf Homes/Lifetime Developments) - Real Estate -

This is crazy! I thought the market was overheated, but this is just ridiculous... I heard stories about Ice2 where agents were snapping up 20 units at a time selling off the rights for a few thousand a pop and then giving it back after 10 days as a no risk type of thing. Perhaps they are going...

    Bad restaurants

I dunno about fine dining in LA or San Fran, but the Michelin guide doesn't even publish in Toronto...

Arc Condo (Sheppard & Bayview, Daniels, 16s, Kirkor) COMPLETE

It's a decent building. I worked right at Bayview Village for 2 years and watched this baby grow. The parking is a bit weird though, it's sort of open to the elements situated underneath the building on the ground floor.

    Toronto Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

The street may not be as wide, but there's nothing to stop us from having similarly nice sidewalks and good spaced large trees outside of small residential streets.
