Not surprised. "Closed for renovations" sign is usually the death knell. So when you say it was sold, does that mean the new owners will re-open it as a pub?

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Took the train this afternoon from Union to Pearson and back and overall it was a very nice experience. Of course there were lots of minor day-1 glitches. For example, on the trip out to Pearson there were no stop announcements, and on the return trip they had some difficulty lining up the...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Last night I saw 4402 testing on Broadview heading NB at Dundas. Is this one that was sent back to Bombardier for modifications?

The King St side of the bridge has now reopened! It happened sometime between 6-8pm. The 504 looks like it will be back on its regular route tomorrow, as planned.

Toronto Pan Am Village in the West Don Lands | ?m | ?s | DundeeKilmer | KPMB

I find it interesting that they placed those large planters in the centre of the square. A tacit acknowledgement that it's too barren for the athletes to enjoy? I'll bet they disappear late summer, right after the Para PanAm Games.

East Village Leslieville (1321 Gerrard, Aykler/Urban Fabric, 3s TH)

I considered this project a few years ago - the price was good, good layouts, good location, however when I called the seller, I didn't get an answer back. That should've been a sign!

    Toronto River City Condos Phase 3 | 99.66m | 29s | Urban Capital | Saucier + Perrotte

They've been moving dirt around since last fall - I wouldn't get too excited. It seems they're using it as a temporary storage area to work on the landscaping for the rest of the WT/IO lands in the area. They've been placing trees, soil, and sod there.

    1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

I'm not sure if I'd say "correct" since proper name pronunciations often vary depending on geography or who's saying it. I definitely agree that pronouncing it "Sher-burn" is a Toronto thing.

Thanks for the answers. I definitely don't want anybody to be killed on the job.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Anyone know if Ports Toronto is still clinging to their spring 2015 opening for the tunnel? They have less than a month.

Thanks for putting that video together. A few observations/questions: - That bell really does clang a LOT. Was it clanging going over Black Creek? Why? - Why does it have to go seemingly so slow into the stations? Is this the same speed as GO trains can approach stations? - I'm still not...

    Corktown

In other news, it's now official - Corktown Common will be closed almost the entire summer: June 1 through August 31. They're finishing up installing the barriers and spike-tipped fencing around the perimeter, with only a small opening left to get into the park. Some good news - the...

    Corktown

To my untrained eye it appears the only thing holding up return to service for the 504 is the work being done on the sidewalks near River. If that really is the case, then there should be no reason this hasn't re-started. I'd love to be proven wrong. This landscaping work seems to be taking...

omg that voice of the Atlanta Plane Train is hilarious and frightening. Reminds me of my Speak 'n Spell as a child. The voices on the T1s is a TTC employee: http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/2011/11/12/technology_takes_over_for_iconic_ttc_voice.html Nothing against her, but I really wish...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

A couple of additional observations: - interesting that the Dominion on the corner has almost come full-circle as a grocery destination with Shoppers Drug Mart recent introduction of a substantial fresh food section. - I love, love, love, love that light fixture over the gas pumps. I don't...

I'm curious how they determined this, though I'm not at all surprised.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

My first then-and-now contribution to the thread, and I stumbled across it quite by accident. I sat down for a bite at the yummy Leslieville Pumps at Queen E & Carlaw, and embedded in the table was a great "then" photo, which allowed me to snap the "now" photo as I left. Anyone care to guess...

L Tower Condos (Cityzen, Castlepoint Realty, Fernbrook Homes) - Real Estate -

In looking at the previous posts, I don't think anyone is saying it's okay, however this isn't going to change overnight - it requires political pressure on your MPP. In fact, I completely empathize with you. In one place I lived, the developer literally had to remove the whole outside wall of...

They're working on the final landscaping of the area on the north side of River City and it's spilling onto the street. They're also finishing up putting the topsoil over the rocks for the flood protection berm, so I think that may be holding things up. I notice, too, that the rails along the...

Small miracles: while the King bridge hasn't reopened, streetcars are running full speed over the bridge along Queen now. Last night they were grinding the rails. Another note - I'm no expert, but when they strung up the overhead power along King for the 504, it appears they used trolley wire...
