    Overactive condo development?

I suspect people who bought an older condo didn't spend the same price per square foot for it when they bought it years ago. So, even if they sell it now for below what a new condo would get they may still get a good return. I suspect most people will not pay more for a older condo over what...

Market Wharf Condos (Context Development) - Real Estate -

We bought for investment and I believe picked C. All the finishes were quite good IMO.

    Condo Upgrades with best value

Depends what you mean by upgrade. If you have to remove tiles and reinstall tiles this could be more expensive than having the builder do it the way you want it in the first place especially when you factor in the fact that you already paid for what you are now tearing up. Also drilling conduits...

    Condo Upgrades with best value

Maybe hardwood in the bedroom. Other than that I wouldn't bother with any of your other ideas. I do suggest that you check to make sure you have enough cable and light receptacles - eg. for chandeliers, ceiling light fixtures in dining room, bedroom and maybe living room. Also carefully think...

Westside Gallery Lofts (Urbancorp) - Real Estate -

A family member has the same suite. She put white epoxy on the floor and smoothed some of the creases out of the walls. Results were terrific. I find the unit a bit dark but with some track/cable lighting running from the light fixture in the kitchen this can be easily corrected. I generally...

    Referendum on Transit City needed

Please no referendum. We elected our civic leaders to run the city. Let them do their job. They will be held acountable at the next election. Personally, I don't have the time or access to enough information and experts to come to any reasonably informed decision on this topic. I suspect people...

    Stupid condo jingles

I can't stand that Mercer one. I have to change the channel when that comes on. Hopefully they didn't pay someone to come up with that idea.

    Irresponsible Dog Owners

Timely thread - I found an anonymous typed note in my mailbox yesterday telling me to pick up my dog's crap, informing me that they "know who I am" and that I am being watched and threatening to call the police if I don't pick up my dog's crap. The only problem is that I don't have a dog.

    How Many Types of Investment?

Max out your RRSP contributions first so you get the tax deduction. I also assume you already own your own home. If you don't, the capital gains exemption for your principal residence makes owning an attractive investment. I also don't like mutual funds much - the fees can siginificantly reduce...

    possible lawyer issue, need advice

I've amended my last two purchases from developers. My amendments included a provision re excess deposit insurance, cap on heat pump rental or purchase amount (note as a result of this I ended up getting a free heatpump since I had two in my unit), a cap on the other adjustments / levies and a...

Trinity Lofts - Is this worth the price?

I used to live at Mozo and moved to Corktown last year. While there may not yet be a Starbuck's at the base of every building, there are lots of amenities with 10 mins. I still walk to the pub (eg Betty's) and the grocery store (Sobey's) and i still walk to work (King / Bay). The nice thing...

Trinity Lofts - Is this worth the price?

How is this a terrible location? It is one block from the Distillery. it is a reasonable walk to the Financial District, it is a stones throw to Little Trinity Church and Enoch Turner schoolhouse and in a couple of years (ie, close to when it will be completed), it will be very close to the new...

Is it realistic for a single 19 year old to live in Toronto?

My opinion stay - stay with the folks for a couple of more years and go to school. This will benefit you for the rest of your life. If you ever want a family you'll have a hard time raising one in Toronto on that income. Another alternative would be to come here for school and live in residence...

    When will the market recover?

I think sales will remain lower but prices won't drop too much. I would expect to see some early stage projects being cancelled. This will eventually reduce supply to a healthy level - i.e. more in equilibrium with lower demand.
