    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Maybe like Donald Trump, America doesn't want to let in all the rapists and drug dealers from south of their border. LOL.:p People who say 'only the Olympics matter' are tv fans, not sports fans and would not buy tickets for volleyball or slalom canoe or handball or fencing or water polo...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

If not for Mayor Ford, Scarborough would have a shining new 7-stop LRT running right now. That was the original plan, to have it going in time for the Pan Am Games (for events at the new U of T aquatic centre). Instead, they get nothing for at least the next decade.

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Yes, it will look better during broadcast. But it's also better for the spectators, and saves money on staffing. The volunteer kit included a $30 Joe Fresh coupon. This weekend I went to one of the stores, there was also a Canada Day discount and I walked out with a decent pair of pants and...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

As usual you post nonsense. "If you support public libraries you also support Bill C-51 since both rely on tax money." The article you linked says nothing about bids, bidding, or a bid process. I think your consumption of Ford Nation kool-aid has impaired your ability to think logically and put...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Here's a way for you to "cheer up", Toronto-style: For 2 weeks in July every time your foot touches the brake pedal, mutter "Fucking Pan Am Games". Backing out of a driveway, coming to a stop sign on a quiet side street. Children at a crosswalk. Leaving a mall parking lot. Doesn't matter. Line...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Decision was made that ACC is too big (20,000 seating capacity) for any of the events that could have been held in it.

re: Road Closures - Part of Lakeshore, Gardiner Eastbound and DVP North will be closed this Sunday morning for the Toronto Triathlon Festival. My age group goes at 9:45 am. I know the lake will be effing cold, I just hope there's some sunlight to warm it up a bit before I have to take the...

    Mayor John Tory's Toronto

But Tory was going to be "consensus builder" as in this Sun article during the mayoral campaign. http://www.torontosun.com/2014/10/19/its-time-for-tory As the debate and vote showed, there's still no consensus among councilors.

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

We survived SARS, I'm sure we can survive the summer flu (?) season. Yeah, traffic congestion must be why NYC, London, Paris, Rome, are avoided by tourists. Like the Fords during Pride weekend, many succumb to irrational fear and run away. Anyway, got my 2 free polo shirts in the mail and...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Toronto drivers LOVE to complain (just look at the Gardiner East tear-down whining) so in that regard the Pan Am Games will be very accommodating. Every traffic delay, every red light, even the line-up at Tim Hortons will be blamed on the Pan Am games and tourists.

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

Nothing would get done your way. There is always something better to spend money on, creating inaction in decision making. The argument about not spending any money on "non-essentials" until all the homeless in the city have been put into housing, and all the hungry have a fridge full of food...

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

It's only "unneccessary" and questionable if you remain uninvolved. Yesterday morning at 7:00 am I had a nice swim at the local, relatively new Regent Park Aquatic Centre. Admission price: FREE for everyone! Free to swim, free lifeguards on duty, free lockers, free showers, free flutterboards...
  13. The Golem

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

That's ridiculous. "Most of us" are not interested in anything. Most of us don't go to High Park, that doesn't mean it should be sold off for condo developments. Most of us don't use bike/MUP trails. Most of us don't go to Pride parade. Most of us don't go to Caribana, or the CNE, or Luminato...

That's beautiful. I hope they're not disappointed about our lack of snow in July. :)

    Toronto 2015 Pan American Games

My favourite complaint was, "I don't want to sit in my car in Pan Am traffic so I'm going to drive to Montreal". I agree with you, this is going to be an incredible and maybe once-in-a-lifetime event so I plan to enjoy as much of the Games as possible.

Probably too late but you can volunteer for specific events, and some of them (eg triathlon, road cycling) are 1 or 2 days only. if you're really interested you should ask. They keep talking about 23,000 volunteers but I'd be surprised if even 60% attend all their scheduled appointments.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Or they're just incompetent, lazy assholes who are much better are shooting a teenager on a stopped bus, beating on peaceful protestors, and carding. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/clayton-ruby-toronto-police-botched-rob-ford-probe-1.2304315 Also strange that Ford has said many and...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Hope someone asks Brown where he's going to relocate Etobicoke's autistic teenagers. http://www.thestar.com/news/city_hall/toronto2014election/2014/07/04/go_to_hell_doug_ford_tells_autistic_sons_dad_after_making_integrity_complaint.html

The end of FHRITP in Toronto?

I don't feel too bad about Simoes. He can run for political office in Ward 2 in the next election, they love that sort of talk.
